Topic Wiki

I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

Rep was skeptical why I would want to DG so soon after opening and having received benefits covering AF.  Also asked why spending was down since opening.  Just seemed very accusatory and it took about 10 minutes to finally get to the offer.  Was my first retention call with AMEX so maybe this is par for the course.

AMEX is known to give people a hard time for downgrading or closing the Pt quickly. They know the game.  Hence the single bonus language now.

I am looking for an answer to the following. I have a US Bank Flex Rewards card which has a yearly fee that I am trying to avoid. A supervisor said I can either close my card and lose my credit line and not pay the yearly fee or I can pay it . Does anyone for sure if I might be able to move my credit line to another use Bank card ? Or receive a retention bonus ?

Had some issues with delivery of my Citi Hilton card.
At first rep. offered 1k Hilton points, to which I said that, that's now worth much.
So she then offered $50 statement credit, and I gladly accepted.

First card never arrived, so called to have another card expedited, and that also necessary arrived.
Called again, and even though previous rep. requested expedited, the system didn't process it, and it was sent out USPS.
Then had to be on phone for 30 min. while they sorted it all out to have it properly expedited.
I called the cs number on my prestige card.

Chase botched getting me my BA card.  I received it a month after I applied.  I complained about the annual fee, since the definition of annual is yearly and I would not have the card for the full 12 months they were charging me for.  $95 statement credit
