Topic Wiki

I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

I wouldn't be too fast to say that. I had a US Airways cc and I had them waive AF before bonus posted and it was a PITA to get the bonus....

I just got my m&m af waived but I didn't receive the bonus yet. Should I be worried?

Any recent reports(success stories) with the United exploror card?

Is there any bigger success rate with sm through chase online?
I got a rep who understood what I wanted to do and told me I can't do it but I will leave you some notes in your account and mention you spoke to me when you send a sm to chase online, and hopefully they can help you remove the AF or reduce it if not offer an incentive. Any stories like this?

Wife got an offer for either 20K MR after $3k spend in 90 days or $150 statement credit for Amex Plat card. Points are better option right?

Sure is, even if you were to sell them, you can get more from it.

Yup, i think key in my case was that i pushed them to check for an incentive to prevent me from closing the account, the usual simple retention plea didn't cut it, even after a few hucas.

That's the usual retention plea.. They usually need to hear from you that you consider closing the account.

I usually don't imply that I consider closing and I've gotten plenty of retentions, maybe I should start doing that though, it certainly worked for the IP

Iirc, With citi, the rep must hear that you consider closing before transferring you to an 'account specialist'.

Amex rep claims that retention offers are related to how many credits (late fee reversals, goodwill) were credited to your accounts (@across all accounts) in the past. Any truth to that?

why wouldn't you spend the 85k on another card if you're not using ink bonus categories?
