Topic Wiki

I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

Amex BRG Spent 6K last 12 Months. Called number on the statement and was given the option to downgrade to the green card, or upgrade to Platinum, 50K bonus after 10K spend in 5 months.
The rep also suggested to connect me to the MR team to see if I can pay the AF with my points...
Any better phone number to call?
I assume you mean the BGR and not the PRG?

Thant's correct, I'm talking about the business rewards gold card. I have the card for a few years already and never tried to wave the AF.

What's the best number to call? is there a dedicated retention line?

I called the retention number mentioned in the Wiki, was told that's for personal, not business. they transferred me to the business division (I didn't ask for the number)

Was offered either a 50.00 stmt CR or a 2000 MR upfront plus 5000 after 3K spend in 90 days. Opted for the latter.
