I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

Anyone see anything lately with the BGR?
ETA: Just called after 1st AF charged, no offer. Worth it to wait, or just shut down?

What did you get there?
The thing about the BGR is you can open a new one every year with no repercussions.

How long did you have card for? What was your shpiel?
Personally, had the card for a year, and called to cancel. During the closing g process, the offered me a $100 statement credit to keep it open. Honestly aside from the anniversary points, there is absolutely no reason to keep this card.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

Coming up on my annual fee for citi prestige. No longer have a real need for it looking to product change. Has any received a good enough offer to keep it?

Obviously depends on your needs, and your value of points.
Say you value the airline credit at 75%, that's $150 then value the points at 1.5 cpp it's paid. If you value them at less then consider the benefits.
For myself I'd definitely take it.

I was only offered $50 statement credit or 2,000 MR right away + 5,000 MR after $3k spend in 3 months. Spent over $50k on card.
