Topic Wiki

I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

Can you get a retention bonus on a card each year or will they tell you that they already have you last year?

Got rejected on phone for first year AF waived with ink plus (60,000 UR offer, although in branch it was waived). Should I push it or cancel (got it two weeks ago, and am done threshold spending, albeit on extremely obvious MS)? I'm not planning on signing up again in my name for another 24 months anyways.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

You could get more than one year.

I'm trying to build credit and keep a stable relationship with chase. I have a couple of people that I can sign up in their names, and I like waiting for increased bonus anyways.

Are you looking to take a big loan out with them ? You could get it more often & still be in a stable relationship with them. Lets hope they still have these generous bonuses in 2 years.

I'm pretty young and don't have much of a credit history. I'd love to build it up.

Gosh! Got 15k points for keeping my SPG card open! NO SPENDING on the card! Then when I started talking regarding my platinum card, he told me that the most he can give is 5k MR points but he can add additional 10k SPG points to offset the AF on the platinum card! A total of 25k APG, then I asked him if I can get some kind of statement credit as well (I know I am a huge fat pig, but I saw that he was in the mood of just giving!) So he told me he will try to see what the system approves, and he came back that the system approved a $99 statement credit. So in total we are 25k SPG 5k MR and $99 ahead  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Wow!! Kudos. Never heard of such a large bonus for spg. They are usually really stingy with that.

Nice. You're not a fat pig. As AJK wisely put it "When you get an agent as good as (fill in the name) you make sure to leave it all out on the floor"

I got 4 offers now for advantage exec.

1. Spend $5K in the next 3 months get 15K miles.
2. Spend $1.5K every month for the next 7 months and get $50 statement credit every month (total $350)
3. Spend $1.5K every month for 3 months and get $100 and 5K miles.
4. Every month in the next 16 months that I spend $1K, I get 1K bonus points.

I was billed on the 23rd so I need to decide today if I want to pay or cancel.

I can take 1 of the offers and then cancel within 37 days from the 23rd but I won't be getting any of the bonus points by then. (Unless I take option 1 and spend it all before this statement closes, maybe they'll credit the points before 37 days. Not very easy to spend that much in a manner that it will post by the 23rd.)

Only was offered 1-3, but also an option to downgrade to Plat (which I already have), Gold, Bronze  ::), or any Citi non-AA card that I would like.  What?  haha  Are there any Citi non-AA cards worth downgrading to?  I was told that I wouldn't get the bonus for the card I downgrade to, so I am shooting for closing or #2.  Thoughts?

Do you think the reason they're being so generous is because of the af hike?

The AF hike hasn't taken effect yet.

For spg, you guys are calling the number in the wiki or regular cs
Dumb people learn from their own mistakes, smart people, from the mistakes of others
