Topic Wiki

I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

They just offered me even less:
1. $100 no spend
2 5k MR no spend + 10k for $2k spend
3. Downgrade....
Said will call back ( huca.....)
You may have called when RD was closed and spoke to CS instead.  Try 11am-8pm EST.  They have better retention deals

First time I called the number on back of the card, now I called the retention number from the wiki and got the same offer. Shvach, nothing as good as the $400 statement credit I got 2 years ago.

This isn't really a retention bonus, but I figured this is the best place.
I applied for Amex Plat. Biz. And got the card Rush shipped. The day it was supposed to come, I get an email stating, there was a processing error, and my cards will come late.
I called Amex, and had then reship it again for rush approval. Again I get the same email.
I called once again, none of the reps had any clue to what was going on. They processed it again for rush shipping, and I got the card. They gave me a $50 statement credit for the delay.

I think the most they were willing to offer me a few months ago was 10k for 5k spend af not waived.

I just got annual fee waived on my wife's card at her first annual renewal.
My card at the first renewal (last year) they would not waive annual fee and they only offered me 10k for 5k spend/3months.
My card was up for second annual renewal just now and I had to try a few times and talk about cancelling card just to get that same offer.

Funny thing is I have about 10 times more spending on my card!

Not really sure what formula they use to decide who they waive and who they don't.

Anyone have any other experiences ?

I have my Saphire card coming up for renewal, anyone able to get AF waived or a retention bonus ? if so how ?

Sapphire seems to be very hard to get a retention.

Hard but not impossible. There seems to be several better plays anyways. Close or DG unless its the only UR product.

Even if its your only UR product, cancel and reapply...   FTFY
And forfeit all UR points?!? I hope you meant even if its your only product that can transfer points.
