I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

Hard but not impossible. There seems to be several better plays anyways. Close or DG unless its the only UR product.
True. People have reported getting AF waived, but few & far between.

And forfeit all UR points?!? I hope you meant even if its your only product that can transfer points.
i guess i meant it either assuming a DG, or just assumed everyone on the planet has a freedom
but yes, if you dont have any UR card, and you are closing, its a bad move

FTFYFTFY
How long before re-applying ? has anyone had difficulty being approved after re-applying too soon ?

General consensus seems to be at least one month. I guess it depends on your recon skills. Ymmv

There is no set time, but around a month or 2 has been what has been reported as to work
If you think nobody cares about you... just forget to pay your credit card bill

I just got annual fee waived on my wife's card at her first annual renewal.
My card at the first renewal (last year) they would not waive annual fee and they only offered me 10k for 5k spend/3months.
My card was up for second annual renewal just now and I had to try a few times and talk about cancelling card just to get that same offer.

Funny thing is I have about 10 times more spending on my card!

Not really sure what formula they use to decide who they waive and who they don't.

Anyone have any other experiences ?

I have my Saphire card coming up for renewal, anyone able to get AF waived or a retention bonus ? if so how ?

Thanks for the info.

I read somewhere that Chase is cracking down on approving people for UR-based cards (SP, Freedom, Ink).  The rule apparently is that you can't have more than 4 or 5 cards newly opened from any banks within 2 years.  This does not apply to the other Chase partner cards (BA, UA, Hyatt, et al).  They're trying to block churners. haha  Is this confirmed?
