Topic Wiki

I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

GOT 10,000 for BRG, saying i would consider closing the card not to pay the A/F..
but it did take me some time to get them away from the questioning...
it looks like you are churning..... why do you have so little spend in the past 10months...

10,000 MR for BGR, took 2 minutes. Nothing for Delta Business.

Wife got nothing for BGR, and 4K for Delta Business.

Will try back again on ones we got nothing for.

I got 7K last year. I was calling about SBS and just switched over to retention dept once I was on phone. I had never called since getting card 6 years prior.

Just got 7K yesterday. Pleasantly surprised. Approximately $2-3K spend per month.

Can i call up and say I decided I don't want the 3k, it's not enough? $95 is a lot. Plus not sure if I have a good enough reason to keep the card open, I just don't want to lose earning spg points ability once I close

On the chase united card is it better to ask for a bonus after paying the annual fee or before? And what kind of retention bonus should I expect to get?

AMEX standard Gold

$50 statement credit.   Accepted

I was previously able to get the AF waived yr 1, and got $175 in AMEX offers on it last year.   Plus it shows on my reports as an early 1990's open date.

Ritz = nothing.
Is it easy to get offer on Chase Ritz card? A few people reported getting free cat 1-4 for 5k spend. Is that a standard offer? I barely used the card besides initial spend and pggm for travel credit
Did you get anything?

Going to look over the thread concurrently, but I was wondering how everyone did with the following:
Amex Business Gold Rewards
Amex Premier Rewards Gold
Amex Starwood Preferred Guest
Amex Delta Gold
CitiBusiness AA Platinum
Barclays AA Aviator
Amex Platinum Business

Thanks for the help!

PRG: choice of 7500 MR for 1k spend or $100, $50 right away $50 after $500 spend. Accepted the latter.

Its all YMMV. CSP is tough

Just got $60 for CSP.  I still may downgrade it to a Freedom after the Statement Credit posts but this buys me some time. Not sure what value it offers me over the Freedom.
