Topic Wiki

I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

i recently posted a question  regarding churning or staying  after the first year when up for renewal
i called chase regarding my CONTINENTAL  card  to cancel they offered me a choice of either miles or credit in order not to cancel the card i took the credit  figured will offset the 85.00 fee

In all likelihood the miles would've been worth more.

How many miles/dollars did they offer?

I called when I got my renewal and said that I didn't have a chance to use the card (except for the $1 charge to get the 50,000 pts which I didn't share with them) and they waived the renewal fee for me. I think I must have gotten a new csr or I was very lucky.

they offerd me 15k or 150.00 statement credit which i took
update 11/16/11
called them back today  to cancel the co card got a thick headed SR who didnt know what i was after and as we  were discussing she went and cancelled the card i asked for supvsr and he reinstated the card and after explaining him what i was after he offered me either 15k co points or 150.00 statement credit i told him is this in addition the 150.00 i already got yesterday and he said yes total of 300.00 after he gave it to me i chutzpadik asked for the 15 k points which he said he cudnt do but that i picked the better of the offers as the statement credit is worth more then the 15 K points so im 1 happy camper
now if amex doesnt play ball with me and need them either way as i have loads of points with them chase co credit will l offset the amex 175.00 fee

If you got 300 it's worth more than 15k but 15k is by far worth more than $150, when selling to brokers (and for sure when redeeming).

What made you decide to downgrade? Did you just not want the headache?

Is this for the Premier Rewards Gold? Sounds like a great deal you got if you go for the points.
