I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

i hope you recorded that phone call because it’s total garbage
If you pay attention whenever you call the credit card/bank it greets you with; Your Call Is Being Recorded to Ensure Quality Customer Service...
Anytime they start telling me different from what the first rep said, I tell them to go look back in their call history as all the calls are being recorded, most times they end up giving me what I wanted as there's not much to say when one rep said they're going to do X for me.
Doesn't hurt to use this tactic on the phone calls going down south with no hope.

Just called for SPG biz. No offers on my acct, opened last year March. Rep said even though it’s past the 30 days to receive full refund because I have 2 other biz cards with Amex ( I actually have 4) she can offer me a prorated refund of $79.17. She proactively offered this info & was ready to do it.

I called the AMEX number from the WIKI for my SPG card 2x and got no offers. They just went thru the benefits of the card and why I should keep it. Should I keep calling?  What should I be saying to get an offer? Thanks!

Yep, they're also marketing 2x per dollar just like 3x or 5x categories from other cards, pretty misleading.

Called about Barclay AA Red with 10K annual miles grandfathered.  Member since 2012.
No offers, no possibility of waiving annual fee.  Explicitly mentioned moment before cancellation that I may reconsider if they happen to have any bonuses or waive fee, denied. Closed card.  Despite the 10K yearly bonus, no desire to accrue more AA miles after I burn what I have.

I have long ago stopped working to accumulate AA miles. It's quite rare that I find a situation of practical usability for them considering the near nonexistence of non-BA flight availability connecting North America to TLV.

What's the issue with BA?

I fairly certain it's more then double that for the YQ.

That's makes redemption awfully restrictive, if the one use you want only is worthwhile one way that's not a currency to collect.

Well considering that it's a fairly easy currency to collect, the $600 yq is not the end of the world imho. And it's not like there are many great options NYC-TLV, all options cost a fortune.

Finally got a retention offer on my Amex Biz Plat account. It was 13 "please pay by" dates since the last retention offer. More than 13 months. Was told by a rep to call right after the date, and viola, there was an offer. 5k MR immediately, plus an additional 15k after spending $10k within 90 days.

They offered it to you and told you that?
Because it seems they are offering this to people, which would make me assume that they allowing product changes from different co-brands.
They didn't tell me, I confronted her when she offered it to me, and she admitted that this is what will happen.

I think I've seen dp's somewhere, can't recall now.
