Topic Wiki

I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

Jet blue annual fee. Called numerous times sent message, and being told they can't offer me anything. They won't even let me downgrade.....
Was literally a 2 minute call for me. I was surprised. They offered to refund the fee right away. What year is it for you?

On the other hand, Amex promised me a $95 statement credit for the SPG Amex personal and I still don't have it months later. Seems like the rep who promised it to me was a regular customer service who can't give retention bonuses, and he didn't leave any notes on my account. I made them look up the recordings where he clearly says that he will give it to me, but I have gotten nowhere so far.

They put me on hold to "talk" to customer service and won't offer anything.

Ah, I spent about $20k. Wish I had managed to spend $50k for the Mosaic status, but I have no clue about MS.

Ask for a supervisor right away with Barclays, front line reps can't do anything.

With Amex , for the last few years I was never given anything on all 7 cards, some have been lucky and received nice offers . I have no idea on what basis are their decisions based.

Barclays Jetblue, Called in, no retention bonus. Only had ~1K spend. However I spent >50k on the Biz version. will see what happens when that is up for renewal.
