Topic Wiki

I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

plus 750 bonus points every month if I spend 750
Is this offer considered to be any good? It's basically 2 points per dollar, and requires somewhat significant spend.

Also, I received 10k on my TYP Premier card if I spend 3k within 6 months. I'll try it, if I have additional spending ability, and can get the upcoming annual fee removed.

This promo with citi retention to spend a certain amount per month and get the points doubled is the spending per calendar month or statement cycle?
Ok I found out now that my statement is closed and you do get the bonus as it is per statement cycle not by the calendar month.

I called twice so far today for the United Card @1800 945 2006 and both reps did not offer me anything. any suggestions? Is it better to SM? Also they mentioned a no fee united card which gives 1 point for $2. Has anyone heard of that before. Is that better than closing, so I can use towards new application in the future?

I'm also already after 3 HUCAs and got nothing for my SP. I know they can give 2500 (some1 even shlepped 3k from them). Any ideas on how to get them to give me something? I spent a pretty decent amount on the card over the year...

Hi there,
I noticed I was recently charged the annual fee for my United Card ending in xxxx. Although I enjoy the benifits of the card I m looking to cut expenses. How much time do I have to decide to cancel the card without incuring the annual fee? Is the any option to keep the card but have the fee reduced?
Thanks,
xxxxx xxxxxx

Just spoke to Citi about my annual fee. Rep said the retention dept is closed till 8am so I'm like: "get me over to a supervisor and let them retain me" ;D
Needless to say I was out of there within a few mins with my $85 statement credit.

I removed my post after looking back and reading what you were trying to do. However based on your SM i don't think he is a jerk for what he answered you.

For clarification I do not mean to insult Carmen Montenegro, rather it was an expression of my frustration with trying to get some kind of retention offer.
