Topic Wiki

I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

Common sense is not a gift, it is a punishment.
Because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

Chase ever give out anything on CSP or I should just downgrade it now?
I got nothing. "I see that you have x amount of points. Do you know you can use your points to pay the annual fee and make it free?"
I just downgraded to Freedom

Barclays Arrival Premier:
Nothing offered (neither now or in the past).  Was a great card at the time for non-bonus spend abroad, but the market has changed and we now have offerings like Venture X and Curve available, so it is really past its prime for the $150 AF.

Closed.

Also no more BTC  ;) iykyk.

Yes, that was a consideration for sure.  What a shame, that was literally a way to simply manufacture points easily.

Watch them bring it back now that I cancelled....

Amex Plat personal:
1st renewal.
Offered 30k points for $3k spend.
Forfeit if closed within 12 months.

Don’t know if I’ll keep it for that though.

Update: called again and this time clearly stated I wanted to close the card. They switched me to a different team who offered $95 credit if I spend $1k for 3 consecutive months which I took since I was going to keep the card open anyways.

They offered me $100 on BizGold that has $295 AF.
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

No- less than $500/month.
That I don't use it a lot, I was just charged my annual fee, and it doesn't seem to be worth it for me to keep it open.

Was that on  a new card? or at the one year anniversary?
