I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

I just saw this at the side of the application:

Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express
Average Cardmember Rating: #
Receive 25,000
Membership Rewards® points when you spend $2,000 in 3 months.1†

Introductory annual fee of $0 for the first year, then $175.
† Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product within the last 12 months or any other Consumer ZYNC®, Green or Gold Card or Platinum Card® account within the last 90 days.

Does that mean if I reapply, I will not receive the 25K MR points?

1)do not see this warning on starwood biz card , is it only on consumer cards?  or did i miss it ?
2) 90 days start  when card  is issued? not application?

3) 12 month wait also from card issue ?-- so if get a first year fee free and keep 12 months- then  cancel  wait a few weeks -reapply get bonus????

My annual fee just hit on my Citi AA card, how long do I have to cancel and get rid of the fee if they don't offer me a retention bonus? 30 days from date of being charged the annual fee?

I received 5k avios retention bonus for the BA card. I called back a few weeks later after I paid the annual fee and managed to downgrade the card to no fee. They said that I will receive a credit back to my account for the $95 that I paid

Some in the past have reported getting some points thrown their way, usually around 3k I believe. I personally went couldn't get them to give me anything even though I spent quite a bit on the card over the year....

My annual fee for the SP Visa was due in June and they refused to give me anything for keeping it open. Called them about 10x and they consistently refused me a refund or points. So I gave up and decided to change it into a MC and apply for another SP Visa. No issues with that and they approved me for a new SP Visa (in successful 3BM). Today I call them to cancel my SP MC (original the SP Visa) cause the annual fee, and they tell me they refunded me the fee already so why close it?! I check online and sure enough they refunded me $87.09. I assume they charged me one month fee for July.

1) Has this happened to anyone else here before?
2) Now that they refunded me the fee, shall I just keep the MC open? or close it, transfer CL, change my new SP Visa into a SP MC and apply for a new SP Visa again in a couple of months.

Whenever I say that I want to cancel because of the annual fee they always respond "You can always downgrade to the sapphire which doesn't have the fee."

What other reason can I give them? Perhaps just a  "I want to close it." Without explaining.

On my AA Visa I just got $85 + 500pt bonus after $500 spent every month for the next 16 months (annual fee not due until Jan.). All I spent on this card was the $3000 spending threshold and $150 for the statement credit!

Can anybody please respond to this post. I want to cancel and reapply but I'm not sure if it is possible  to get the bonus again based on what is written on the side of the application on Dan's site. Please scroll up for the exact quote.

Multiple DDF'ers have already disproved the statement, thus the silence.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks Dan. I will go ahead and cancel and reapply. I just needed that extra assurance. I hope my MR points will stay safe on my fidelity GC until I get approved for a new card.
