Topic Wiki

I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

So he offered me either $45 statement credit or 7500 points.

IMO they insult their own program when they insinuate MR ~ 0.6 cpp

Is it easier to get a card approved by offering to cancel a card then by just offering to transfer (some) CL?
IME, offering to cancel or agreeing to cancel a card is an ace in the hole for getting approved. Transferring credit doesn't always work - too many cards is in the eye of the rep, i've gotten told that for three cards. I've also been declined b/c of overall hits on credit b/c they saw I had just opened an American express card or something, but got approved when I offered to close a card.

Yeah i just saw the post good job. But I saw plenty other ones who didnt get anything. Anything special u tell them besides the usual? The last CSR told me "all the benefits I receive are valued at about 5 times the AF, and that I am neither gonna get a partial refund nor points but I can certainly use my points that I accumulated to pay for it"  :-X
I m just scared they start writing down notes on my account after a few calls/SM...

Number on your card.

Thank you.  Chase today gave me a $50 statement credit for a card on which my annual spending is only a few hundred dollars.  Glad to maintain the United benefits that come with the card.

Called for my old Ink Bold, they said there was a new policy that was instituted in the last month that they do not refund AF (ya, thanks rep.), I asked if she could offer points instead, she put me on hold and told me she could only offer me 30k (the equivalent of $30 in her words  ;)) I said that would be acceptable. After I hung up, she must have tried to enter it and the system stopped her at 5k. I called back to complain and the new rep said that since I had minimal spending on it, they generally can only offer half the annual fee (~5k points) but since first rep had offered more, he could do another 4.5k. A total of 9.5k not too shabby!
