I'm trying to summarize success stories mentioned in this thread.
From @TC610
It never hurts to ask - retention is a big YMMV.  If you don't like the offer given to you when you call for retention, ask for a better one.  Scan through the thread (use the search bar - reading through 130+ pages of posts can be time consuming) to see what others have been offered. Please post what you've got if its better then whats in the WIKI

Does anyone think that for 5000 miles it is worth it to keep CO card open and pay 85 fee?

I dont think thats worth it because it means you are paying about 1.7 cpm which isnt great. The only way it would be worth it is if you spend alot on this card and rack up co miles or if you fly co and need the card to waive the first bag fee

Or if you want a card with free primary CDW.

Called to cancel an AA Mastercard and they offered a credit in the amount of the annual fee ($50) with 5 transactions over the next 3 months. Good deal IMO

Anybody have any expierience with the amex delta gold card? Did any one succeed in getting the fee waived or bonus points for renewing recently?
Renewal just came up for $95 i called asking if they could waive the fee stating there is better offers out there she gave me a nice big
'sorry sir there's nothing we can do for u'.
any Advice?

I called to cancel my card when the renewal fee came up, they gave me the Delta Options card, which has no fee but earns only 1 point per $2. At this point, I am not using it (it is really only good to keep the miles alive) and would like to cancel with hopes that I could get the Delta Gold again at some time in the future.

Two questions-  Is it possible to get the Gold again? How will the cancellation affect my credit -- I have a $20k credit line and I lose that, does Amex even report the credit line to the agencies?

Yes amex reports the credit line so if you close the card your credit score will take a little hit. If you have another amex card ask them to transfer the credit line over

Got my $65 renewal fee on my personal SPG AMEX.

I called up to complain about the new higher fee and they offered 3,000 points as compensation.
Truth is that 3,000 Starpoints is worth at least $65, so that would be fine, but I asked for a supervisor and was given 5,000 Starpoints as a retention bonus!

How much do you spend annually on this card?

I called and got declined. Is it like Sprint where YMMV and it's worth calling multiple times?

Always worth trying a few more times, but it is based on spending.
