running windows 95 on windows 7???
« on: April 24, 2012, 08:53:49 PM »
I want to run a 16bit computer program on my windows 7 home premium 64bit, but it doesn't work. I think if I can install xp then xp has an option to run windows 95 but I can't seem to do that either with just windows 7 home premium... Anybody have any ideas for me?

Thanks! I installed 95 but I got this message Fatal: No bootable medium found! System halted. I am trying to run a computer game I used to play as a kid. I found it in a torrent and its saved on my hardrive I just can't figure out how to install in through virtualbox... I'm not sure what to do now.

What program?  There are various methods to get a troublesome 16 bit app to run on Windows 7, or worst case Windows XP mode (which is a feature of Win 7 Ultimate, Pro and Enterprise).

Lots of the addictive games have been converted (usually freely available online) to work with newer operating systems, iphones, androids, etc.

No :( http://civilization.wikia.com/wiki/Imperialism_(game) (copy paste this link) If you scroll down it says  When trying to run the Imperialism setup on Windows 7 64-bit systems, an error message appears and the setup will be interrupted. However, extracting the "FIRST.Z" file located on the CD will result in a valid install directory with an exe file that will run on 64 bit system without any modifications.

I extracted it to my D drive but it does not open a exe file when I click on it, it doesn't open anything at all. Is the problem that I need the original cd?

will 'mount' the disk image to your system as if the cd was in drive
