Cheapest place I have found is Tirerack ( http://www.tirerack.com/ ).  In more recent years there may be a cheaper online merchant.  Find out who has the most reasonable rate to install the tires, then you can price compare between a dealer (who will install them) and ordering online then paying a local place to install them.  The tires arrive UPS with a label taped around the tread.  Alternatively, once you've gotten the cheapest price online, Mavis Tire will usually match the price if it's a tire they sell (they take your online price, plus shipping, plus their charge to install a tire to get "your price" for them to match).

Costco

They have great warranty and service.  They also usually have a coupon sale.

And by the way, WhyAich is correct about Costco.  If you are flexible in terms of the brand of tires you want, and can buy one of the ones that Costco sells, you won't go wrong.  Sometimes they don't sell the lest expensive "decent" ones -- which is the only drawback.

If you want to buy in person and go to Firestone my experience is that they will match Tirerack or Costco if you show them prices from online or advertised

www.mavistire.com/ all over NY, cheapest!! I'm quite sure that firestone (decently priced on sale and GREAT warranty) install for Tirerack.com (at least on the west coast) and they were more expensive than Mavis.
