RESTAURANTS (the best of)

There are hundreds of kosher restaurants in Paris.  The locals generally don't eat the meat under Beis Din as they don't require Glatt meat.  But they will eat everything else under Beis din.

Activities:
-Segway Tour. Please do not PM Ergel with requests for coupon codes. The codes are long dead
-Seine River Tour
-Eiffel Tour (Metro: Trocadero -6,9)
-Versailles Palace and Gardens. Never wait on line to buy tickets. 1. Use museum pass 2. Buy in advance 3. There are vending machines near the bathrooms (you have to poke around to find them) without lines. (if you go during a really busy time and the line seems endlessly long, go to the gardens first and return to the palace in the afternoon when lines are shorter). To get an audio guide, you usually proceed across the Royal Courtyard after passing security. If the lines for the audio guides are long, turn left in the Courtyard, to the Apartments of the daughter's of Louis XV’s. There you'll find another counter where you can get audio guides, with no lines at all. You can then exit the apartments and continue along the tour, bypassing the longer line.
-Louvre Art Museum (Closed Tuesday) (Metro: Palais Royal - Musée du Louvre -1,7) Shushan/Purim artifacts that can be seen at the Louvre, per the book Purim and the Persian Empire.
-D'Orsay Art Museum (Closed Monday) (Metro: Solférino -12)
-Musée de l'Orangerie des Tuileries (closed Tuesday) small museum featuring Monet's lilies (Metro Concorde: -1,8,12)
-Centre Georges Pompidou modern art museum open 11-9. closed tuedays (Metro: Rambuteau -11)
-Tuileries Gardens. (Metro: Tuileries -1)
-Paris sewer museum Smells really bad but an interesting look at the sewer system
-Champs Elysees shopping (Metro: Champs-Élysées - Clemenceau -1,13)
-Arc de Triomphe (Metro: Charles de Gaulle - Étoile -1,2,6)
-Operan National De Paris opera house. tours daily 11:30 and 2:30. Admission included in Museum Pass, tour extra
-Montmartre (Great neighborhood to walk around with boutiques, artists, and great views, and a funicular that kids will love) (Metro: abbesses -12, Anvers -2)
-The Great Synagogue (La Victoria) is beautiful but the main shul is only open on Shabbos mornings for Shacharis, but definitely worthwhile if you're there over Shabbos (Metro: Notre-Dame-de-Lorette -12)

Hotels:
-Park Hyatt Paris (Hyatt cat 7) is an outstanding value for your points. They used to give a phenomenal kosher breakfast but now it's barely even worth requesting.  Still rooms are a decent size for Paris, the Spa facilities are very nice, and the intoxicating smell used throughout the hotel for forever be linked with the romance of Paris. Ideally located between the Opera and Tuileries metro stations.
The Park Hyatt has free parking, though driving and parking elsewhere in Paris is very difficult.
The Park Hyatt has also complimentary bikes for guests.
There is a backdoor for entry on shabbos.

-The InterContinental Paris - Le Grand is not far from the Park Hyatt. It cost 70k IHG points per night or you can use IHG free nights. It is a good alternitive if the PH is not available or if you don't have/don't want to spend 30k Hyatt points per night.

-The Westin (SPG cat 6) is not as luxurious at the Park Hyatt but is located nearby and does the trick if you only have Starpoints and not Chase or Hyatt points.

Shabbos meals:
-Chabad of Champs Elysees has great shabbos meals and you're sure to bump into other tourists there as well to share tips.
It is a 30 minute walk to the Park Hyatt, but the walk is quite lovely via the Tuileries Gardens and the Champs Elysees.
Reservations are required: http://www.chabadchampselysees.com/templates/articlecco_cdo/aid/888847/jewish/Shabbat-at-Chabad-Champs-Elyses.htm
-if you don't/can't eat at Chabad, they suggest getting takeout from Ben & Cook located in the 8th. Hashgacha: rabbinate Lubavitch De France 33 1 45 61 03 95. 35 Euro for 2 challas, 2 dips, meatballs with noodles or veggies for 2. they close at 3pm on Fridays (in the summer). call for more info
- Friday night meals at Grand Synagogue http://www.tiny.cc/chabbat

There is no eruv in Paris. Consider taking the metro to shul with your talis bag along with return tickets for motzei shabbos.

Transport from CDG:
-If you are going to the Opera area you can take the RoissyBus (pronounced Wahsee-Boos as you will get blank stares if you ask for the Royzee-Bus) which goes there nonstop. You can pay by credit card in the RoissyBus waiting station or on the bus.  The cost is €10.  It is a 5 minute walk to the Park Hyatt.

-There are also train options from CDG: the subway is located in terminal 2E/2F, to get to paris its ligne B (Blue) it should take approximately 30minutes to get to Gare Du Nord
it cost 9€10 each way per person

- Mendy Taxi: 0(1133) 6 50 99 82 93 http://mendystransport.com/en/
- Shimon taxi: 0(1133)6 98 27 16 08  Tamidshuttle@gmail.com

- Uber, Bolt are the best option to get to paris cheapest and fastest

Metro:
The subway is fast, efficient, and cheap. A book of 10 tickets is 13,30€ for adults and 6,65€ for kids.
The subway closes between 12:30 and 2am.

Map:
Streetwise Paris cannot emphasize enough, this is really a must. Of course, if you have GMaps and data you don't need this map unless you really like paper.

Other Tips
-If you plan on visiting several of the items covered by the Museum Pass - make sure to check it out and price out your options.  Many times it is worth it to get a one-day or multi-day Museum Pass to save some money and more importantly, time (see link for more details: http://en.parismuseumpass.com/)
-Double check days when museums/sites are closed as many do close on different days of the week.

The more the front desk looks into a reservation the more questions may be asked.
Exactly my point. Hence don't give them reasons for suspicion.
IMO, you guys are overthinking this
I have had issues in the past. Better to avoid any suspicion.

From my recent trip to Paris:

1) If you take the Roissy bus from the airport, make sure to have your ticket and stand outside the airport building a minute or two before the bus is supposed to arrive. We missed one bus because I didn't know the automatic machine doesn't take American express. We then missed another bus after waiting for 15 minutes because we were waiting inside the building and it just zoomed by without stopping. Apparently it only stops if there are people outside waiting for it. Despite our experience, it is still the best transfer option and it lets you off very close to the Intercontinental.

2) We stayed at the Intercontinental on free night certificates. When checking in, I got a big scare after being told that if the "main" guests on the reservations didn't show up I would be charged the standard nightly rate. Eventually they told me that if the main guests send copies of their passport by email and write that they allows me to stay under their accounts it would be ok. I sent the passport copies and it worked out fine. If you are buying nights off people, be sure to get a copy of their passport.

3) Despite there being no option online at IHG.com to add an infant to the room, we had no problem requesting and receiving a crib for the baby. The only issue is that the crib limits the already limited space in the room.

4) Versailles palace does not allow strollers inside so you must carry your infant the entire tour. My wife and I took turns holding our 20 pound baby. Inside the different rooms there are often benches and places to sit down so it ended up being bearable but if you have a really heavy baby or a small child that can't walk so much be warned! After the tour of the palace you can pick up your stroller and take it with you to the gardens.

5) Versailles palace is a full day trip including about an hour/ hour and a half commute each way so it is better to do it on one of the middle days of your trip and not the day of arrival/departure or the day before departure.

6) The Louvre closes early (around 5:00 pm) while the museum d'orsay closes much later (8 or 9) so it is better to do the Louvre first and then walk over to the Orsay.

7) If you are in Paris with a stroller, try to avoid the regular metro underground trains at all cost. Very few of them are accessible by elevator and many of them don't even have escalators. Instead they have lots and lots of stairs and if you have to switch trains, you will be doing double or triple the amount of stairs each time.
Instead use only the RER underground train which is different from the regular metros and is for the most part accessible. Please note that sometimes a lift may be out of order and you still need to get on and off the trains etc' but it is much better then the regular metro. Another option is to take buses if they go where you need to.

8) Diapers are super expensive in Paris! try to bring enough of them with you and avoid buying them there.

9) Some stores in the Jewish area may have a sign outside that says they are kosher but they have no actual supervision. In my opinion that is pretty crazy especially with a butcher shop. Always make sure that they have a certificate of Kashrus from a valid organization before buying anything.

10) The museum pass helped us skip a lot of lines and I hate lines!!! However make sure it is worth it for you before buying it. Do the math of how much each place would cost on its own including any discounts you may be eligible for (student etc').

Can't think of anything else at the moment but I am open for any questions...
Thanks,very useful info.

Either the hotel will need the AH or they wont. Asking for a crib shouldnt make a difference one way or the other

I have a 10.5 hour layover in paris from 7:15am to 5:45pm. How much time should I give myself on the return to the airport?
And what can I reasonably see in that time? should I start at eifel tower?

-1 I was there this past winter and wore a cap the entire time. I was also told by others that wearing a kippa isn't the smartest thing to do
It's not that much worse then NYC, it's just a language and mentality that you don't understand/know, that's what scares everyone...

It's really not that bad/scary/dangerous

Make sure you don't have luggage with you as it's a big hindrance. Other than that, the Eiffel Tower and Louvre are for places to start that are relatively close together.

+1 and also time for a boat ride by Eiffel, does not take long and they make stops at all different attractions, Notre Dame, Louvre etc,  you can hop on and off and leave when ready to go to the airport.

Isn't it a bit of a hassle with a carriage? Specially when coming/going from/to the airport, with luggage

To/from the airport, use the Roissy Bus. Inside Paris it will be much cheaper and easier to use buses and the RER train.
It's not like the Eiffel tower or the Louvre have a huge free underground parking lot.
If something is very complicated by bus or train you can Uber.

Last summer we went with a 1 year old.  We did not rent a car.  We took trains/RER everywhere except to and from airport where we took a shuttle.  We we had to carry the stroller up and down each time going to subway, but I couldn't imagine the parking mess.  The carrying wasn't too bad when there was two of us and many places had an escalator.

Not worth taking a uber?

How about Versailles? Isn't it much faster, easier, and more convenient with a car?

It will only save you about 15 minutes and will probably cost a lot more but you should compare both options.
The bus makes one stop at every airport terminal (4 or 5 stops total) and then drives straight to the opera district where everyone gets off. We stayed at the Intercontinental which was a 2 minute walk from where the bus stop is. The bus cost 14 euro per adult.
Uber will probably be 50-80 euro.

Versailles would be much easier with a car. If you want to get a car, you should probably rent one at the airport, drive to the hotel, drive to Versailles. Everything else is inside the city and you are better off using Bus/RER. You have to compare the cost of renting a car and not using it for half your trip and decide if it's worth it for you.
BTW, the Intercontinental offers free parking to its guests.

We didn't stay in a hotel, we did a AirBnB - but there was a general shared shuttle (like the Israel Sherut) that we used.

As for Versailles, while I can't comment on parking there, getting there by Subway/RER was very easy.  Think of it like NYC.  Cabs/Uber are easiest but costly.  Parking is a pain and potentially costly.  Driving is tough because of the congestion (and add in language issues).  Subway/LIRR is easy, relatively cheap but somewhat inconvenient.
