New Starwoods

I've got my name on my parents Amex business card,I think its a gold(the card is gold) so now I want to sign up for a Starwoods amex, under my own account. Does this help me that I've already had my name on an amex card? If yes, how do I use it to my advantage?

It depends if your parents gave AMEX your SSN or not.
If yes then it should help beef up your credit history and make it more likely for you to be able to get you own cards.
