Route 1 is crawling with smokies
Yeah, I was going out if my mind when I did that drive. Especially when I planned the drive for night time when I was hoping to make tracks!! Literally every 2 miles was another cop.

Are there any other Kosher restaurants besides Mams? Are cholov yisroel products available there? Also, I booked the Hyatt key west resort and spa for points. Were any of you ever there?

update; there is no option to pay with cash/ change anymore. they only offer pay-by-plate or sunpass. i would advise carefully checking what the terms of using the pay-by-plate/ sunpass option the rental car "offers" (IME w/ hertz very pricey!).

i ended up taking highway 1. took an additional 45 min. i was trying to contact hertz to ask if i were to buy my own sunpass ($4.99 in any cvs) would it work or would i be charged anyway from hertz but was unable to reach anyone who possessed the knowledge to answer this (or any of my) question(s).

Hertz will charge your credit card for the tolls if you don't get a sunpass.

Happened to me last year.

I see there are two restaurants on the chabad site. One is Mams, and the other one is Rons shishkebob. Both are supposedly Glat Kosher. Any reviews on what to order?

We (wife and I) went to mams. Very relaxed atmosphere. I got falafel, really not bad. Wife got schnitzel. If your looking for upscale dining then don't go to key west :) however if your looking for decent fast food....

I don't expect upscale dining but just need to know if I should bring along frozen food for dinner or rather rely on those "restaurants". From what I'm hearing, I guess it's decent enough.

Went already. The food in Mams was actually pretty tasty. Definitely not upper scale though and it feels like your sitting in a front yard in front of a small cottage which is the kitchen. Things may get overwhelming as it's one older lady cooking, serving, cleaning, and taking money all at once. But they do close too early. I think she closes at 6, which makes it perfect for lunches but not so perfect for supper. So I took along pomegranate frozen meals for supper which was great. (One note: Not all the rolls are Pas Yisroel.)

Some other great things to explore are the Hemingway house and truman's house. There's also the closest point to Cuba which is a great photop in a nice walking area.

I stayed twice at the Hyatt resort and spa. Loved it. Great location and plenty to do there as well such as the beautiful sunset sail boat cruise, jet skiing, bike and moped rentals. And their spa is amazing as well.

Rooms are nice and roomy. This Hyatt is the highest category in the state of Florida so I think it's definitely worth the signup nights.
