We're going to be in KW during the first week of January 2015. I've never heard of Ron's Shish Kabobs; is it a fast food, sit down or take-out place? I assume it's different than Mam's which we've enjoyed before.

I just got off phone with HGP rep who told me that sign up nights/hgp points cant be redeemed at residence clubs. How did you pull that off?

Whatever it is, I do not believe it exists.  It's not listed on the Chabad Keys site, and the phone number under that name on Yelp is a disconnected number..

I've stayed at the Sheraton suites it was nice but far from the main area another time I stayed at the crowne plaza which is located very centrally.
All sorts of water activities to do there they have some amazing snorkeling in the area at around sunset time everyone goes down to the west side if the island (I'm forgetting what it's called) there are a ton of street performers who do various acts until it gets dark after that it's either to bed or off to duval street which can get quite rowdy.
As far as food there's a public and a Winn Dixie which have a fair share of kosher food and there's a small hole in the wall Israeli place called mams which is actually pretty good.
There's a Chabad and depending on the time of the year he can have minyanim on shabbos or during the week but you will have to be in touch with him as to whether he has

The Ernest Hemingway house is a local attraction (never been)
Two cute photo ops are mile marker zero on route 1, and the southernmost point in the continental United States.
If you are driving from Miami, Bahia Honda state park is a nice place to stop either on your way in or out.
The drive is quite beautiful so don't make the mistake of driving both ways during the night(unless stargazing is your thing)

For me, the main thing is the drive there. Driving over the keys affords an amazing view. It's a three hour drive and does get a little old after a while but it's something that I highly recommend just for the experience.

You only need a day in Key West. You do the little train tour around the island. That's cute and fund. It takes a couple hours.

The one kosher restaurant is not a real restaurant at all but really just a falafel stand. There's not anywhere to even much room to sit. However, I will say without exaggeration that the falafel pita I had there is the BEST I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up since not everyone has the same tastes but I think you will be amazed.

I loved some of the drive, found others to be dull. Then again, i'm as native to miami as Aligators although this was my first trip to the keys (!!!)

I messed up and we stopped before Bahia Honda state park, the water was lush and lovely but most of it was seaweed.. next trip.  Also want to walk part of the old 7 mile bridge next trip.

We brought a grill and used it on the sea wall off south beach, I grilled steaks and we just ate it outside.

South point USA was dull, didnt even get out, just drove by it and saw it (its not even accurate)

Fort Zachary Taylor was closed when we got there  I walked the entire island width down Duval to Mallory Square for sunset, watch some street shows, got a beer and enjoyed live music.

We left at 11pm, got back 2am.. no biggie.

I loved the island charm, loved the laid back vibe, reminded me of hawaii a bit, though it was wild a bit like new orleans. I love the southern charm buildings.. nut cases with parrots begging for change to buy a beer.. the guy offering dirty jokes for 1$ so he can buy a beer.

I think its fun because your at the end.. its like this is it folks.. youve reached the end of the USA, water on 3 sides.. its like no where to go, sit back and chill.

Hope to go back soon.

We actually drove down to Islamorada today to go to Anne's beach, the drive is great, best scenic drive in the U.S probably, but the drives are nicer in the caribbean.
