i need to rent a car for about 3-4 weeks how do i do it?? doess usaa work will the insurance be expensive even with usaa???

thx did tht already but with the usaa code im not sure if it takes away the extra 40$ a day tht hertz says it puts if under 21....

USAA works like most other corporate and its just as if you would be over 25, no underage fees but they will not cover you for insurance so make sure to use your CC insurance or pay for it.

I have had a lot of luck just posting in the rental car Master thread. post your age, dates, car type, with what type of insurance, and of course from where. I've saved a couple hundred dollars already from the very helpful members over there.

your going to want to get the Amex Premium Car Rental Plan for $25/rental. That will cover you past the 14 day maximum that other cc have

I am almost certain chase sapphire preferred is 30 days of coverage. Also when I used to use the amex $25 coverage, if there is no abdamage done you can switch the rental on to a different credit card when you return it, hence saving that $25...

Remember, hes 19 so I'm assuming he doesn't have Chase Saphire....your typical visa/mc will only cover 14 days...I was always wondering about switching your amex card to save the $25. What happens if after you return the car they dream up some damage..now you have no coverage at all... $:-\$

true. Others can share their experience but I've never had that happen. Maybe they would sign a paper saying no damage was done?

unless you use a key-drop or some similar (airports where they take your keys and go?) but in a normal neighborhood location they should not be able to claim anything after you drop it. how can they prove it didn't get damaged on their lot later on?

it was disucssed many times, here and may more its not so simple.
A. In some states like NY the state minimum to cover is the same price.
B. If you dont qualify for everything with USAA it might not work i helped a friend that crashed and got into lots of issues using USAA.

to save issues dont try it.

Ah ok, good to know. I actually do qualify for all the products, but I will keep that in mind so in the future I don't tell anyone to rely on it.

update: i called dollar rent a car and they said with chabad corp code the under age fee is waived the rep told me even for 18-21 not only the regular 21-25... so i dont know why anyone would use usaa? unless im missing something here?...
