As per the OP, UA never charges Fuel Surcharges (otherwise known as YQ). Taxes at some EU airports can be high. LHR is over $200 for arriving and departing

I checked the following routing on Ethiopian.
TLV - SEZ - TLV

Here is the list of extra fees ITA is showing me.
ET YR surcharge (YR)                                                   $280.00
Israeli Departure Tax (IL)                                            $24.07
Seychelles International Passenger Service Fee (DW)   $50.00

From what I can see, YR isn't a fuel surcharge.
Does that mean that this route doesn't have YQ?

EDIT: YR is their YQ.

what happened in the end with AC and YQ on all airlines? Did they make that terrible change or is it only the carriers mentioned in Dan's post at the beginning of the thread?

I wish I had the ANA miles to try but it would definitely be interesting if that was the case..

Wonder why they would not have fuel surchages on just US airways and United. Would it be a USA thing due to the fact that the US airlines don't charge YQ?
