Maldives is one of the places I agree to: if you have to ask how much it costs you can't afford it

It's expensive, you can't go buy drinks in walmart, the resorts have no competition for all the extras, like dives, cruises, drinks.... you will have to pay what they charge

If you are stretching your budget to get there and will not be able to enjoy a coktail without thinking twice, maybe wait still a little to go there

Just got back from an amazing 6 days in the PH. We brought our own food and the chef kept in the fridge for us and reheated whenever we wanted. There was a lot of confusion when we tried getting prices in advance (see upthread) but in the end they only charged us only $15/day per person for storage and reheating, irrespective of how many meals we had. Because we brought our own utensils/cutlery there was no other charge, even when we ate in the restaurants a few times. They claim to have kosher dishes, etc and they'll serve the food on that for you and that would then be an additional $20/person/meal but I wasn't going to just trust them that it was actually kosher and didn't care for it. We called our hostess to let her know when we wanted our food and whether we wanted it in our villa or by the restaurant and she took care of letting the chef know. By the second day of our stay all the restaurant staff knew exactly what to do for us and would just bring out our meals to the table as soon as we got there.

One of the funniest moments of the trip was while waiting for our transfer flight in MLE. I was wearing a jeans, tshirt and a baseball hat (I do not have a beard) and someone comes over to me and says "are you from dansdeals"?

Hopefully soon

The last leg meaning the transfer from MLE to PH? Cost is 510/person and Hyatt takes care of arranging it. Unfortunately you're at the mercy of the airline schedule and there's no real way of knowing in advance so you may have a few hour wait depending on when you arrive. It's paid through Hyatt so you'd get relevant bonus points (3X on Hyatt card, 2X on SP, etc) but you cannot pay for it with the Hyatt certificates

Wow, that's crazy. (Not saying you did something wrong.) It's just a pity to use points to fly all these wonderful routes and then have to take a quick flight for $500. Is that RT or each way?

There is no way around it any resort there. It includes the speed boat and flight RT

Yep stinks but part and parcel of the experience but def worth it. As others have said above, expect to pay a nice amount out of pocket for any trip to the Maldives or you'll be wasting your time traveling that far for a subpar experience.

There are resorts near MLE that can be reached for free.  Reef isn't as good.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

And same for BOB.

Right, and those resorts probably can't be had from opening a credit card (at least not as easily as PH)?

20K/night for a regular room. Not sure (read: interested enough to call up and find out) how much you have to pay to reserve the OWB.

Not until later this year. If I'm going to BOB, I'd prefer going during peak time.
