I have been there. You do have to go through Male and based on the schedule of the commuter flights that the PH books you on, you may find yourself in Male for hours.
When we were there, there was no other option other than us having to get back to MLE several hours before our departure. The PH paid for a free tour of MLE (which i was a nit queasy about then and in the end was fine...i certainly would not be comfortable doing nowadays)
I just plan on staying in the airport in MLE while waiting for my next flight. Don't think I'll have issues in the airport..

From everything I've seen here, the W MLE is so much more accommodating and friendly than the PH. Plus every villa has a pool there.
It's not an awful value with the SPG35% on a 5 night stay.

Seems to be the only international PH in the world I don't have much of a desire to check out.
Key note.

Anything less or more is just awful.

Yup, though 5 nights is pretty ideal IMHO.

I have a five night trip without kids to the CM (plus 3 nights in Singapore) and with the RT travel, will be 10 days travel.  My parents were HAPPY to watch the kids because I promised them their OWN 5 night state wherever they wanted in the Hilton chain (Best deal I ever made BTW).  :P  I don't know your parents but since we all know you have tons of points that might be a good use for some so that you could actually use some of yours without the kids!!

And BTW CS91 I don't think it was rude to ask for the breakfast but holy smokes that reply was NUTS!  That sounds like a totally ridiculous and anti-semitic response, especially since all these resorts serve alcohol and "haram" (ie. treif) food to all their immodestly clad guests!!!

Lol, the reply weirded me out more because of the mention of prosecution (can't believe that a country has laws like that). I didn't think it was anti-semitic because I previously emailed them about storing my POM meals in their freezers and having them heat them up for me and they were more than happy to accommodate. My guess is that they don't really understand what Kosher is (partially evidenced by the fact that they said that they unfortunately can't make me Kosher food), and perhaps thought that it would involve some religious ritual which would entail breaking the law.

Yeah maybe your right.  Since everyone thinks kosher food needs to be "blessed by a rabbi" maybe they just didn't want you doing any crazy rabbinic ceremonies at their resort!  8)

It's really crazy how many people think that the Rabbi blessing ritual is true. Someone recently asked me why I don't just get a Rabbi to bless bacon  ::)

You can - then it's called facon :) I'm quite curious if the kosher stuff tastes similar to the treif stuff.

It doesn't. Made a non-Jewish friend taste facon (he wanted to kill me for making him try it) and beef/lamb bacon when I was at Le Marais with him and he said it wasn't even close.

Paging Tim t

Direct from Dan's TR ;)
"After 2 nights and 3 days though I had done more snorkeling, kayaking, and swimming around than I needed to and was quite sore from it all.  I know most people come here from anywhere from 5-10 days but I would definitely get island fever long before then.  I’m not one to just laze around all day, though I did my share of that too.  It’s a long way to travel for just 2 nights but I experienced enough to know that I loved it and that I’d return.  I didn’t regret having just 2 nights, I was excited about being able to explore another city and eat from an actual kosher restaurant!"

I sent my parents to Vegas in return for them watching my kids when we went to Hawaii. I think it was the best value I ever got from points!

Yeah I don't want to have all that travel and not stay long enough to enjoy the Maldives and a stopover (we are doing Singapore) but didn't want to be chutzbadik to ask my Parents to watch the kids for so long so really it's a win-win for them and us to offer them their own trip later.  Although after reading all the Flyertalk thread and if all goes well with food, etc.  I think I'd love to have a totally different kind of trip again to the Maldives with my kids and they'd love all the snorkeling and sea life.  Any DDFer's been there with older kids as a family vacation?

I felt bad asking one relative to watch my kid the whole time, so I split the kid up between people (not shipping him all around, just different people in same location).
