Booked 5 nights at the SR over x-mas week in an OWB. Pretty good deal. Website suggests that speedboat is an option, so will be curious to find out what that prices at.

I'd be shocked if it was cheaper.  At the Conrad you have the option, at the same price, of taking a domestic flight and speed boat if you arrive after dark but before 10PM because no seaplanes operate that late.

+1  I'd beware and double check that.  The fee at the Mandatory fee at the Conrad over New Year's is $400++ and the Seaplane and rooms at the SR are way more so I'd expect their fee to be more too.

Having been to the Maldives once, I fully anticipate it, but if I end up taking the trip, I'd contest being charged such a fee based on it not being disclosed anywhere on the webpage (and every other resort in the Maldives puts the holiday feast charges front and center for a booking anytime of the year). I asked the booking agent to confirm whether any such "special conditions" applied.

I would guess the villas just off the shore are the 6 over-water spa treatment rooms.

And this is probably the two smaller looking villas connected to a large one at the end of the over-water rooms.

For the Saint Regis, only Starwood points and yes you have to call.

So for the Ithaa they offer a 5 course Lunch for $195 or a 7 course Dinner for $395 or Cocktail hr which includes a Glass of champagne and some Canapés for $65. The cocktail hr would be the most ideal to get in there for pics but like can't even drink the damn glass of champagne or eat the Canapés. For a once in a lifetime opportunity might just have to sucker up that $130 for the two of us.

We're planning to do the Cocktail hour.  I'm sure plenty of Muslims also couldn't have the champagne or weird canapés and even if you don't want to make a thing about kosher, it's at like 11AM and I'm sure others have asked for other food and drink...I'd want coffee and fruit at that time!
