To follow up on this: I picked a random day in July (7/9) and looked back 10 years at the historical weather in Male.

July 9:
2009: Sunny
2010: Rainy (1.3 inches)
2011: Sunny
2012: A few showers (.2 inches)
2013: Showers (.5 inches)
2014: Rainy (.9 inches)
2015: Sunny
2016: Some showers (.1 inches)
2017: Showers (.3 inches)
2018: Sunny

August 9:
2009: Rainy (.9 inches)
2010: Rainy (.8 inches)
2011: Some showers (.1 inches)
2012: Some showers (.1 inches)
2013: Sunny
2014: Sunny
2015: Some showers (.1 inches)
2016: Some showers (.1 inches)
2017: Sunny
2018: Showers (.2 inches)

Great data.
We had been planning on January 2020 for our 25th Anniv trip, but summer would be easier to schedule.  Thanks for this helpful conversation.

Shame this deal doesn’t work past February.

It's in the same group of islands. Not sure how to best describe it.

Interesting.

When I was looking for places in the Maldives for last summer, I saw the over water rooms for about $250 a night. When I finally wanted to book, it had gone up to around $900 a night. I tried getting cute and opening an old cached web page with the old price and clicked on book. I ended up being charged around $3600 for the 4 night stay.

I tried calling a million times to get them to allow me to cancel and got nowhere. Baruch Hashem, they messed up the listing on Orbitz (which is what I used since they gave another 15% off with a coupon code) and the room description said 28,000 ft instead of 2,800.
I managed to claim that the description was mistakenly misleading since the room is much smaller then posted on Orbitz and finally was able to cancel my non refundable room for free.

Ended up going to the Dhigalli and got upgraded to an OWV with a private pool all for about $230 a night.

Chances of this being honored at this point: near 0.

Well if they are too incompetent to fix this, they may just let it slide too. Also, I think many were afraid to book

But is this data meaningful for this particular resort island?

The amount of revenue loss they’ll get compared to their size and negative publicity of honored. I booked in case but I’d be surprised if this were honored

Only somewhat. There’s nothing better though since they don’t report weather.

I have booked 6 nights at the Conrad in a standard OWV but am considering doing this (Angsana Velavaru) instead and staying in the In-Ocean Sanctuary Pool Villa. I will only be traveling with my wife, so while the extra space of the sanctuary pool villa would be nice, it isn't completely necessary. While Hilton status helps at the Conrad, Accor status does nothing at this hotel. Has anyone here stayed at this hotel?

what do you need status for if you're getting their best room and free breakfast?

Afternoon tea/happy hour mostly  8). There are also small diamond benefits at the Conrad that may/may not still exist, like an evening cruise, daily fruit plate to snack on, lounge access at the MLE airport, etc.

My reservation for the Conrad is on November 4th. 20 days out. They need 21 days to cancel. Now I'm stuck with the Conrad OWB. I guess I will not be enjoying this price mistake.
Just FYI if it helps anyone. We are flying from HKG after the Canton Fair on Cathay Pacific with BA miles in Business, and from Male via Doha to JFK on Qatar booked with AA miles in business.
