While this might not be everyoneís cup of tea, you can fly delta JFK-BOM direct, have a night stopover in BOM (maybe get some food from Chabad delivered) and then BOM-MLE the next morning. Low category points hotels in India and service is great while it will give you a chance to recover. On the way back you can have a 6 hour stopover in BOM. I would suggest go to the city taxis are super cheap go to the Taj Mahal hotel, get some Indian/Mumbai vibe for a few hours (more then that might not be bearable for some lol) get some food at Chabad and head back. [do check traffic though! The airport to Colaba area where Chabad and Taj Mahal is can take 2-3 hours at peak traffic time but much much less at night]

I redeemed last year QR from MLE-DOH-JNB with AA @ 55k. Availability matched BA.

A lot has changed with QR availability since last year. You can check BA, AA, and QF as well. It's very dry if not non existent for J.

Donít forget about the Westin which is brand new so imho better than the jw which is just a mostly redone old resort. Thereís also a brand new intercontinental which has lots of availability for owb for 100k

The new Intercontinental is nice but it can't be booked with Marriott which OP was looking to do.

You can stay at STR or the new JW in an Overwater Villa most of which are quite private. At STR the Sunset villas are very private.

Regarding routing, I found Emirates via Dubai to have the best schedule and easiest redemption for J via Alaska with lots of availability.
Don't do Emirates J.
Go F or stay home.

Hi everyone,

My wife and I are planning to go to the Maldives in a few months with and would really love any insight! Iíve read through a lot of this forum (and others) about the Maldives and weíre really excited about it. I have a couple of  questions:

1) I have 120k AA miles and we will be traveling from Europe, so we plan to fly Qatar Business one way and economy one way. (60k each). Iím assuming that would be the best use of miles? If Qsuites arenít available on one of the legs is Qatar Business still worth it, or should we look for something else? Total flight time with stopover is around 13hrs.

2) I have the Aspire card and 380k Honors  points and used that to make a four night reservation(Ocean Villa)  at the WA. (I used 380k points and a free night certificate so I couldnít take advantage of the 5th night free). The Conrad has availability for a 5 night water villa stay during that time. For those that have been to both, would you say that 5 nights at Conrad (and keeping my cert for another time) is better than 4 nights at the WA? Iím seeing bad reviews about the customer experience at the WA, and itís making me a little nervous.
I understand the Maldives are expensive, and Iím Ok with that. Iím just trying to understand if Iím making the right choice. Is 4 nights at WA (Ocean Villa) better than 5 at Conrad (Water villa) and 1 somewhere else?

3) Howís the Kosher/Jewish accommodation at the WA? Are they pleasant about heating/storing meals and the like? The Conrad seems to very nice about it. Does either hotel charge for it?

4) Has anyone been to both? Does one of them have ďnicerĒ water/snorkeling?

Thank you!

PSA:

The JW Marriott and St. Regis both told me that they both have kosher food for sale and provided me with prices.

St Regis: $45 for soup. $95 for Main courses

JW Marriott charges from $44 for chicken breast and chicken legs. $75 for Beef. They also mentioned that there is a charge for heating up meals depending on the time of day and venue (starting at $50 for breakfast). I believe that would be in addition to the cost of the dish.
