I heard that there is a border crossing between the 2 emirates at the moment and a negative covid test is needed in order to cross

As of 2 weeks ago tourists were NOT allowed to enter duabi Via Abu Dhabi (AUH) with Ethiad. Tourists are only allowed entry into (DXB).

https://www.google.com/amp/s/thepointsguy.com/news/dubai-and-abu-dhabi-are-open-for-travelers-should-you-go/amp/
As per the article that you have linked, it seems it will be possible to drive from DXB to AUH by road. That's why I'm planning on flying into DXB and then continuing on from AUH.

Although if AUH will be giving such issues, might be worth it to just fly DXB-MLE but the flight time is horrible compared to AUH-MLE.

I haven't even thought about the return yet of MLE-AUH-JFK. It's under 12 hour layover in AUH so hopefully won't be an issue. Although according to what I've read, AUH government considers a layover to be less than 8 hours....

I'm just curious as to why you think DXB-MLE flight time is horrible? Do you mean the actual time on the flight (which are actually very similar) or the departure times (which I believe are quite similar too)?

The flight time for the day I'm looking is as following:
DXB - MLE 2:40AM - 7:45AM
DXB - MLE 9:55AM - 3:10PM

AUH - MLE 1:20AM - 6:40AM
AUH - MLE 8:50AM - 2:00PM

With check in closing at 3:30 for the seaplane, I'd be hesitant to take the second flight from DXB which only leaves me with the 8:50AM from AUH.

I've taken the afternoon EK flight. It's fine, tons of people fly in on that and take seaplanes.

Ok I see what you're saying. I was looking at days when they both had single daily flights departing at 2:30 or 2:40 a.m.

But like @Dan stated the 9:55 from DXB is fine. I've done it too and had no issues.

ETA: My flight was actually the 10:15 - 3:30 p.m. and we still had no problem being flown by seaplane the same day.

Has anyone stayed at the SR MLE with the reservation being in someone else's name? Did they give any issues?
Is it an issue to have 2 separate reservations under different names during your stay?

I am traveling from JFK to MLE on Qatar Airways in a couple weeks and, naturally, will on the flight during shacharis (twice). Does anyone have experience wrapping tefillin on a QR flight? Experience any anti-semitism? All advice/guidance is much appreciated.

Just did it a couple weeks ago on both the way there and back. No issues whatsoever...

Thanks guys!

On a less than similar note, has anyone in the North Jersey or Rockland County area had luck obtaining a PCR test for travel to the Maldives? I've been looking into locations but no one will guarentee results within 96 hours metting all of the country requirements.

In Rockland County you can go to Medrite. They can do it in about 48 hours.

I did it at englewood hospital urgent care. At the point I did it they were guaranteeing it within 72 hours.
