The DBV do look really nice, with private pools but those are also generally about $200 a night to upgrade (although I'm gonna try to see what I can do).  Numerous people have commented in reviews though that the regular villas have no privacy, so I think we're gonna go 3 nights in a DBV and then splash out for one of the nicer OWBs for the last two nights ;)

As a DIA with some charm, there should be no reason you shouldn't be upgraded to a DBV. Trust me, if I went, I wouldn't be paying.

Lol, don't worry I'm gonna try for the upgrade. Maybe it'll help too if they see that we'll pay for one of the premium OWB bungalows for the other nights and schedule some activities for that revenue too.

That pic is amazing but all their bungalows looked crammed together there too.  Also, I am biased because I'm going for free on points but I love that the Conrad has three separate islands (one is just for staff) so that I don't have to see any workers quarters, can enjoy all the activities and action on one and complete privacy, quiet and no kids on the other!

How can that be? No seaplane transfer, merely a speedboat ride.

Has anyone tried those Kosher meals that some of the resorts offer from Australia? Are they edible?

At the Park Hyatt?  I believe they have and its discussed up thread.  I want to know if they are even available at the Conrad and the cost if they do have them.

I had them a few years ago at the Conrad. They charged me the same price as an average main wherever I ate. So I had a good steak at the Rangali bar for around $15 - $20. I think they may have changed policy after that..

For breakfast they bought a brand new frying pan (in its wrapping).  They made fried eggs with it every day for my wife and I.

Milk was all longlife from Australia, so is OK if you use Chalav Stam.
Cereals etc is fine.

Ice cream (Movenpick) was kosher (on Kosher Australia and Switzerland list).

that is pretty impressive? Are they this nice because you're paying (burning lots of points) a premium to stay in these places?

Amazing!  Thank you!  I was going to bring my own pan and spatula so I could have a proper breakfast but if they'll give me a new pan, even better.   Did you pre-order all the Australian meals?  Did they send you a list ahead?  Thanks again for all the info.

Yes, that and because their own meals average $1-300 pp so even if they serve you a kosher meal in the place of their super expensive meats, produce, etc. they also had to import they are still going to make a ton.  I believe when people got the Australian meals at the PH they charged them a flat $40-50.

So the MLE Conrad basic Beach Villa is 95K HH per night?  how much or what is the process to upgrade to an OWB @ the  Conrad MLE? I'm Gold waiting for my diamond to be approved from the match.

Found the link.  This Wiki has ALL the upgrade price ranges for all different seasons:

They emailed me to ask if I had any special requests when we arranged transfers. I told them I keep kosher, and they said they would make 'arrangements' - but I didn't really trust it would be kosher, so brought longlife meals. They had ordered the new pan, ready-made (microwave) meals plus fresh steak from Melbourne, which they cooked on a covered BBQ or double-wrapped - they knew exactly what to do. I suspect the catering manager has changed since then, you'll have to ask yourself. Kosher food only arrived a day or so after we landed IIRC.

We didn't go hungry.

Found this site - while no guarantees, it does appear that you can get your share of sun and good weather even in July and August...

http://www.holidaysplease.co.uk/holidays/maldives-holidays/maldives/weather/

I think I'm gonna go for it seeing that getting babysitting any other time during the year is difficult...
Weather from one hotel island to another can be dramatically different regarding rain.
