That's probably true!  That's why he's gotta talk to his wife too...if she's on board like AJK's wife to go full hijabi or even wear a long skirt and sephardi style tichel you're probably fine but this a discussion that needs to be had before booking a tour.   ;D

If its going to be done its the day of or before & we'll do it on the fly.. Its not important in the least..

Ok cool, for us to even go to the Maldives was a big stretch so touring Male was out of the question...lol...and we're still going on the trip but there is a reason I'm connecting in Singapore instead of Dubai, UAH, etc, and having my homeboys Ahmed and Mohammed at the Conrad help me arrange all my kosher food is still REALLY weird (look back through the thread at the e-mail I think it was CS91 got from the PH about his request for a kosher meal to crack up)! ;)

Haha, ya it was me. But they were actually incredibly accommodating with the whole Kosher/Jewish thing. I think I mentioned in my TR that our personal concierge guy did some research on what Shabbos is so that he can serve us in the best possible way. Didn't feel an ounce of discrimination while we were there. If anything, we felt that they were trying to be more respectful than usual.

ETA: I never planned on telling my wife about that email that you're referring to, but when we got back, one of my friends mentioned it to her. Suffice it to say, she wanted to cut my webos off for not telling me ;D.

That's awesome.  In all seriousness, once I got over MY issue with having to explain all this religious stuff to them, they've been so nice and understanding.  I also feel that they understand kashrut more because they have their own food rules.  Just curious, did you mention any Shabbos stuff to them and then he researched it?  And what did you do for food that day?  I hadn't gotten that far in my planning.  I was going to have them reheat meals on the other days.  Did they bring you cold stuff or you brought cold cuts, etc. and kept some things in the fridge in your room?

The first time I mentioned Shabbos was Friday afternoon because I had to tell him that I wouldn't be able to answer my phone if he tried calling the room and he told me that he knew because he researched "what being a religious Jew entails."

For Friday night, they heated up the meals before Shabbos so that they'd be ready right before candle lighting and brought the food to our room right before my wife lit. For lunch, we brought rolls and deli and left them in our fridge in our room and we made up a time with our concierge guy for him to stop by to open the fridge for us (there was a light).

Oh, wow, hadn't even thought about the fridge light.  And that's amazing that they did that much research to help you have a pleasant stay.  Thanks!

Hi, I will be bringing my own Kosher food for meals. Is it possible to store my meals in the hotel freezer and have the kitchen warm them up for me? They are pre-packaged and labeled with instructions for how to heat them. Thank you for your consideration.

Sorry I just made that up and it wasn't a template.

I don't know if they are even opening any points bookings yet (I didn't see any online) but they are taking reservations at the St. Regis.  Since Hilton is so much easier to accrue with 3 &6x points categories with their cc I think the Conrad is still a better deal, but it's cool to have another points option.

St Regis is opening up on 11/1/2016. SPG hotels reg room runs from 90k & an OWB goes for 140k per night. Not worth it.

I said I thought the Conrad was a better deal and I'm not enamored with SPG in general for the hotel rooms I want to book and only shared since so many of you guys are. ;)

My email to the Conrad below......

Hi,

We are very much looking forward to our stay at your hotel in the upcoming weeks. I just want to bring up one concern of mine. I am a religious Jew and due to our religious laws, are not allowed to eat any non-certified Kosher food. Therefore, we really need to bring our own food and would like to request that you be accommodating by allowing us to refrigerate our food and heat up as necessary, which must be double wrapped at all times. We will make it easier for you by supplying heating instructions and the daily menu. This will greatly be appreciated and will make our stay that much more enjoyable knowing we won't have any problems with food. We have heard that the food in the hotel restaurant is great from friends of ours who have gone to the Conrad Maldives but obviously due to our religion we cannot take part in that.

Please see the link below for a more in-depth understanding of our religious laws so you can better understand how to handle this situation.

If you have any questions please let me know and I will be happy to answer them!

Thank You,

Their reply below.....

Dear Mr. -----,

Greetings from Conrad Rangali Island!

We are glad to assist you on your request.
During your stay you will have an Island Host who will assist you on the matter and they will coordinate with us to store the Kosher food items properly and heat according to the provided instructions.

We sincerely apologize for the delay of response.

Should you have any queries, we are happy to assist you in any way we can.

Awesome!  I'm going in a couple months so I'd love to hear about your stay if you're up for a TR.  Don't know if you'd feel comfortable or would use it but they also offered to give us a new pan and spatula to use for eggs at breakfast if we wanted or double wrap and cook fish for us.  It seems like they would try to accommodate whatever we request.

Also I'm planning to bring the lists from Australia as I understand a number of the icecreams, other dairy products and cereals are kosher.  Are you going to go to Ithaa (or has anyone else been during their stays)?  I didn't want to be chutzbah to ask to bring outside food there since I think it only seats eight and is normally $500 pp for dinner.  We were going to sign up for the cocktail hour and see if they'd swap the champagne and canapés with something kosher but can't think of anything classy.  I want to get something aside from the view for the $60pp but figured Pringles and coke wouldn't fit the ambience they're going for. 😝
