Well I made 2 ressys & I gifted one to my friend (in May) so we'll see what will be. They better not make a problem once he arrives all the way there :)
Did you reserve their seaplane seats yet?

My boss booked me one of these, and I'm on the reservation as a guest, along with him. I'm going with my wife.

Is that an issue?

It's a brand new hotel. We won't know for sure until someone tries.

I also have 2 reservations. One i gave to my cousin, he was just there last week. He just send a email, with his flight number into mle, his reservation number at hotel and the 2 names for the seaplane. Was no problem.
I think starwood officially allows that, no shtick... If you ask for plat benefits under second guest, maybe then they will make a issue
He also took kosher meals along and they heated them up no problem. I think if you tip and treat the butler and chef nicely as he did, dont be demanding and apreciate their help you will have a amazing stay
I will be there end of jan

Is it ok to book a return flight leaving MLE Sunday morning 10:55am?

i.e. are there transfers available from the islands to MLE that early in the morning, or possible sat night late after shabbat is out?

If arriving at 745pm in MLE, hotel is saying no transfers that late and we will have to stay in MLE overnight and transfer the next morning,

any recommendations for a convenient MLE hotel?

I am also worried about the food we will bring being in suitcases for 40 hours, and with overnight stay it will be more like 50 hours

There are still plenty options that get you there in less than 40 hrs. United via Turkey, Singapore airline coming from the other side , ba operates from Sri Lanka if you can manage to get there. And a lot more. Research research research  :)

For those coming to Maldives, be aware, for those coming from e.g. New York, the 10 hour time difference from Eastern Standard Time - can be very miserable. Maldives is UTC+5. Take along sleeping pills, so one can force sleep at night, and lots of coffee by day, to keep awake. Better yet, make a stopover for a few days on the way (where accommodation is not so expensive), so one can at least partially acclimatize to the time-zone change, so one can fully utilize the days in Maldives.
