Dan sneakily wrote in a DDMS posting on Fri that St. Regis Maldives might be the nicest place he's ever stayed at.. So there's always that aspect. But we're still waiting for the complete TR..

I'm Planning a trip to MLE. found EY F availability, iyh landing in AUH at 7:45PM on Sunday.

I have one of three options.

1) Stay overnight in AUH and take direct EY flight in the morning.
Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Male (MLE)
Etihad 278
Dep: 8:40 am
Arr: 2:05 pm
4h 25m
Airbus A330
Business/first

2) fly to DOH and from there to MLE
Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Male (MLE) — Sun, Mar 4
Overnight flight

Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Doha (DOH) — Sun, Mar 4
Qatar Airways 1055
Dep: 11:25 pm
Arr: 11:35 pm
1h 10m
Airbus A320
First
Meal
Layover in DOH
2h 40m

Doha (DOH) to Male (MLE) — Mon, Mar 5
Qatar Airways 672
Dep: 2:15 am
Arr: 8:50 am
4h 35m
Airbus A330
Business
Meal

3) Fly on Sri Lankan and connect in CMB to MLE.

Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Male (MLE) — Sun, Mar 4
Overnight flight

Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Colombo (CMB) — Sun, Mar 4
Sri Lankan 208
Dep: 11:00 pm
Arr: 5:05 am
4h 35m
Airbus A320
Business (I)
Movie
Layover in CMB
Mon, Mar 5
2h 15m

Colombo (CMB) to Male (MLE) — Mon, Mar 5
Sri Lankan 101
Dep: 7:20 am
Arr: 8:15 am
1h 25m
Airbus A330
Business

I would assume many here have the same dilemma.
While I don't want extra flight legs, I dont want to land in MLE at 2PM, I want to get there in the morning, so I'm leaning against option 1.

Now the question is option 2 or 3, which one, and why?

Also if I take option 2, will I have access to First class lounge in DOH? ticket is booked on AA of course

Thanks, I'm leaving MLE on the Thursday night flight to HKG, do you still think its sacrificing the extra 4-5 hours in MLE on Monday in order to not be running from flight to flight and just have a normal night at a hotel in AUH?

Three nights in MLE? Cancel HKG and go after shabbas.

+ 1

I definitely would choose option 1. Spending the night in Abu Dhabi helps to break up the trip a bit. There are plenty of fine hotels nearby where you can rest up (yes, you will be jetlagged even after first class)

Anyone here stayed at the Sheraton? Do you get to access the club lounge with the SPG business card?

I'm pretty sure Lucky talked about using the lounge there in his TR on OMAAT.  It's worth reading it.

How many nights would you stay in the Maldives?

I figure you'd get bored after about a week.. Anyone venture to stay longer than that?

I could be mistaken, but I thought I heard from someone who went there who said that it's very close to an industrial island with little privacy and poor views.

Whatever you stay will be perfect.
I've done 2 nights and 5 nights, both were great.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

If you're going to fly to MLE for two days, stay home.

5 nights was perfect. Less, I wouldve felt cheated. I could've done a few more.

I've done 5 nights and 6 nights. Each time I felt I could have stayed longer.  7 sounds even better.
