I saw that article and it does have some valid points and it is a solid piece.  When I was at the Conrad, I personally felt very safe and although I didn't confirm it by directly asking them, I felt like the lifeguards were also meant to be security.  I grew up on military bases and it was a feeling I got from them and also that they seemed to have more lifeguards than warranted by the always teeny number of people swimming.  My husband was talking with one of them at length while I was snorkeling and he told them how he and some of the lifeguards were in the Maldivian military special forces and had trained with Americans before they got hired by the Conrad.  Totally anecdotal info but even though it was definitely meant to be unobtrusive, it seemed like they definitely had security plans and personnel there, unlike maybe some other resorts that they were referencing in the article.

Would seaplane from St Regis accommodate a 9:15am departure from MLE?

Tu ORD-PIT UA3700 5:45pm-8:16pm ERJ175 Y

Obviously flying TK would give up a great opportunity to fly EK, but JAL/SPG points are so hard to come by for me whereas UA/UR practically grow on trees. Additionally, the timing of the EK flight out of MLE basically kills a precious day of the vacation.

Any thoughts?

I'm not one of those that really values the difference between J and F like some people (just want a flat seat to sleep) and also I really value my points.  For that reason PLUS not having extra stops, and losing your last day at the resort, I would personally do Option B.

Staying here now for a few days. Leaving Thursday 10pm. Any good things to do in the city on the last day? Anyone went to the market and can tell me if it is worth it?
Thanks

I am in the airport in MLE waiting to check in for Turkish airlines.
I don't know if this was mentioned but there is a lounge here (new?) called "Wellness" right before you go into the international departure area. The good thing about them is that they are located land-side so you can use the lounge while you wait for your flights check in desk to open. It is a relatively small lounge but they have decent looking showers, drinks and a quiet room with reclining armchairs where you can ask them to dim the lights and take a nap.

Booked for 5 nights at St Regis in late December but have not had time yet to book flights yet! Not sure if I should take advantage of the Aeroplan 35% bonus... Any advice on whether I will need Aeroplan miles to fly from LAX- MLE with possible stop over destinations in either Thailand, Singapore, or any recommendations of what to make out of this trip? I have 3 weeks to spare and 5 days at the end of December are already taken.

Any advice at all welcome and yes I understand it was not the smartest move not organizing my trip much earlier...
