Dear religious fans of MLE.

I have tickets booked to MLE, question is now the Hotels.

I'm thinking either Conrad or Park Hyatt, as i don't have much SPG points left.

Question is which one is more likely to upgrade a top tier member to a OWB?

Also does the Conrad give free Kosher Breakfast to Hilton Diamonds?

And does the Park Hyatt still give free breakfasts to Globalist after the World of Hyatt changes?   ( I have seen the reviews of chefs coming to your room every day with a new griddle etc and would really like to take advantage of that)

Any other thoughts why I should choose one hotel over the other are greatly appreciated

Conrad should still do breakfast if coordinated in advance.  Would bring your own consumable food items (ie. cheese, cooking spray, etc.), they should provide new pans and utensils.

As far as complimentary upgrades at Conrad, it's a hit or miss.  I am a Diamond - requested upgrade several months/weeks/days out and they couldn't guarantee anything.  Eventually got there and intra-stay were able to put me into an OWV for last two nights.  If OWB is important to you, I would consider shelling out $$ for the certainty and peace of mind.

My two cents...

I read your review, I wish I could get so lucky, and over 100 pages of this thread lol.

I know there are different philosophies here but I don't know if I can splurge cash before for the OWB, just want to know the conscious which one I'll have better luck with a complimentary upgrade.

Thanks

Unless they are totally sold out they should be able to confirm you ahead into a Deluxe Beach Villa at the Conrad and then OWV's are usually only around $250 a night.  I would prefer the Conrad over the Hyatt because if I'm gonna travel that far I need a private pool, I don't want to add a ghetto domestic Maldivian flight at the end of my already long flights, plus the Chef at the Conrad mamash went above and beyond for all our food and the hot breakfast and other food really enhanced our trip!

I took the measly 500 points.

Sounds like are coming from the Eastcoast so you may not want to route over the Pacific but Singapore and Malaysia both have direct flights and are only about 4 hours away.

Itinierary will hopefully be finalized this week... waiting on Etihad Website to go back up. But based around my stay at the St. regis I’ll be going, either before or after, to Thailand, Singapore, Bali, and considering adding South Africa in the mix.

Getting second thoughts about spending so many points for 5 nights at the St. Regis! Do you think it would be smarter to split my stay with another hotel like the Conrad, Sheraton full moon, W, etc.?

Can't just go MLE>SR MLE>second hotel. Have to go back to MLE, so gonna cost you another seaplane ride x number of people in your party, so factor that in before deciding.

I have a couple December reservations. I'm not sure if January was possible, maybe the very beginning of it was.
Early December gone to a DDFer, still have late December :)

I thought about that and still think it might be worth it as the other methods and costs of transportation are not as expensive as the SR. Only me and my wife.
