"There" SR? No.

"There" MLE? Yes, for my initial open-water cert.

You do real diving even on the exam. Because I did it all in MLE over 2-3 days, I don't recall how long it took just for open-water part.
Would the discover scuba tour be considered a "real dive?"

Don't think I ever did discover.

So you did the whole certification (academic, confined water, and open water) in 2-3 days?

I asked SR how long it'd take for just the open water referral. They said it's 1-2 hours for a confined water refresher plus 2-3 days of open water diving.

B/c my stay is Wed evening through Mon afternoon, I'm concerned that I'll be hard-pressed to complete the training before Shabbos. And by Sunday morning, it may be to close to my flight to dive.

Weather forecast shows thunderstorms for the duration of my planned vacation to the Maldives (next week)
Should I be concerned/cancel?

I don't know anything about the weather in MLE specifically, but by definition, thunderstorms means sunny and hot all day with some short periods of rain. I would never change vacation plans due to possible thunderstorms.

Have in mind you cannot go diving 24 hours before flying.

And they won't know your exact seaplane time until the night before.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Have a 4:20pm Monday departure out of MLE.
Does that basically eliminate the possiblity of diving after shabbos?

Anyone been successful using a Conrad amex offer for the seaplane? Or Hilton gift cards?

What’s the Conrad Amex offer? Why wouldn’t a gift card work to pay a final bill folio from the hotel that included the seaplane or any other charges. HHonors doesn’t give you points for the seaplane but I definitely got 12 ppd from Amex surpass for those charges.

Because the seaplane is a third party charge, would that qualify for the 350 spend.

Darn it! Just realized that the SPG offer is also only at US hotels. Any way to buy gc's in the US and redeem them at SR MLE?

For the SR MLE can anyone recommend a butler?

From reading several TR's it seems as if there are proactive butlers as well as those that can be avoided...

I have been communicating with them through email I don't think it would be an issue to request a specific butler upon availability.

Also DP if anyone was interested... Easily got the mandatory Christmas eve dinner waived through email.

You can request one.

Take a look at Trip Advisor and see who keeps getting recommended.

We had Riyaz, who was very good, but fell short of "incredible."  (Super nice guy, and he used *whatsapp* (which was indeed incredible) but he was not as anally retentive about organization/responsiveness as I'd have hoped. E.g., he would readily bring us ice coffees or our KSMLs to our room when we asked, but if he said "be there in 20," it could be 40 or more. Now, that could be the kitchen's fault, but I'd have appreciate the heads up instead of having to ask him at 35 mins where he was. Nitpicky? Maybe, but at $2500/night, these things matter.)
