I stayed in an OWB and it was very nice but I disagree that it "wasn't worth going" if we hadn't stayed in one.
Originally I had booked an OWB and they offered to upgrade us to a beach villa with a pool which looked amazing. Eventually I convinced them to upgrade us to the OWB with a pool but had we stayed in the beach villa, it still would have been an amazing vacation.

Nobody is saying a Beach Villa won't be amazing.
I just wouldn't travel to one of the farthest corners of the world unless it was for an OWB. And the lack of a pool OWB is one of the reasons I haven't been to the PH MLE yet.

What's the major benefits I'm losing out on at the PH by using an account with Discoverist over globalist?

If there were more people on the island, it may make a difference to have your "private" place to go snorkeling, but being there are only 50 villas on the whole island, there are never more than 40-50 people on the island at a time, so whatever it is you feel like doing, you will never see more than 5-10 people (usually just 1 or 2 actually) there.

I was offered the OWB even though I was with a baby, as long as I signed a waiver. But after looking at it, my wife and I both said we would rather stay in our villa, as IMHO it was cooler (as in not so hot) , less buggy, and more relaxed.

I understand people are nervous to bring children as travel time is very long, but being that we went from Israel it cut travel time in half.

It would make sense however if you are going with a child to go to an island closer to Male, as the PH is really a pain to get to. (45 min plane ride + 30 min boat ride)

But the PH was absolutely stunning and the service truly impeccable, as noted in CS91 TR. I honestly cannot imagine anything nicer! I'm baffled as to why people don't view the PH as their #1 choice.

But I really can't believe that we almost didn't go because of the folk around here that think it's absolutely crazy to go with a baby.

So for anyone thinking of going with a baby and getting nervous, just go. You'll thank me later.

Can you get kosher food from the hotel? Just trying to figure out which room rates to book, with or without bfast. TIA

Why only those two? If you want only a speedboat away for Male there is also a Holiday Inn to use free nights.

I don’t know if anyone actually is going to be able to help you because most of us wouldn’t travel all the way to the Maldives and stay at these hotels...not being judgemental, just stating a fact.

Lucky, on OMAAT, did a TR of the Sheraton and you could start with that.

Kosher Food Gemach officially open in St. Regis Maldives!
When our butler brought us to our room we happened to notice in his golf cart was Shibolim spelt matzah crackers that someone had just left behind. As my husband tries to keep away from wheat this was a nice surprise. So we decided when we left to leave some of our extra food if anyone can use. We left some cans of corn, Tradition soups and in the freezer double wrapped mashed potatoes from Sri Lanka Chabad. If you can use any of the food ask as our butler Saddam who said he would keep it for a a few weeks? months?. If you have any extra food when you leave you can give it to him to add to the food gemach.
BTW, you can ask for a specific butler and a specific room. They try to accommodate if they can. Before we went I saw that Saddam was highly recommended, especially as he is great about taking care of our kosher meals. The only thing he is not good with is that he didn't let us know about the extra activities that they offer. Not sure if because thought wouldn't be interested or not so you need to ask him if anything extra going on (ie: exercise class, free drinks, tennis).
