Eh, if I can make it happen I'd specifically book these as nonrefundable to give you extra leverage if/when they decide to cancel. But for speculative bookings that makes it difficult. A shame it doesnt work for the summer - I need to add another overlapping booking with my conrad, W, and STR reservation :)

I thought summer was not the ideal time to visit? More stormy in summer?

It’s definitely stormier, but it usually only rains for a small part of the day (especially in s Maldives). I don’t have flexibility in schedule and we don’t want to do Bora Bora.

It’s more spacious for sure and you cant beat the price but the hotel isn’t as nice as str. Standard rooms are 1/4 the price. But you’re comparing a decent room at the str to the top room at another property.

Is it worth it to cancel 4 nights at the Conrad for 95,000 miles each for owb here, and book this for $900 x 2 plus about $500 taxes?

DONT YET CANCEL A BOOKING YOU ALREADY HAVE. But this is a much better deal, so if the dates work for you book this and wait to see if they honor it. Then you can cancel conrad.

Helpful.  We were under the impression that Maldives would be miserable in summer.  Glad to recalibrate.

You can get screwed with entirely rainy days. And if you’re only staying 3-4 days that can impact your trip significantly. It also can be cloudy. But it can be sunny and gorgeous the entire time. I think they average 7 inches or so in the month, which is a lot, and more than double what you can expect in the winter, but I’m willing to take that risk given my flexibility.

So anyone bite the bullet? I'm thinking to book for a few nights in January and pair it with some time in Asia. If I book 3 nights, what would give me the most flexibility? Mon, Tues, Wed?

Comparing the properties, any idea which is better? (aside from the room)

All the more reason to have a very nice place to stay in case you get stuck inside.
