If I buy an unlocked q10 and want to use a prepaid USA service that doesn't offer bis but does offer data email and bbm will now work?

With BB10 there is no more BIS, everything runs on "regular data"
If the phone is compatible it should work, as far as I could tell.
I only paid 15% by switching to dansdeals

Twin claims his BBM only works when he's on Wifi, don't know about email though.

Got it to work I had to take out the sim and set up with wifi now that it's set up bbm and email's work without the BlackBerry package.

And after set up you were able to reinsert SIM card for phone service in IL .

Twin claims his BBM only works when he's on Wifi, don't know about email though.

This is the reason I ask ?

Does anyone know of a way to get push notifications/alerts on the Q10 for every dansdeals twitter message? It seems that it only provides notification for direct messages (although the twitter app on the older blackberrys had the option for notification for all messages).

Thats been one of my annoyances with twitter for BB10 as well.  You of course would get notifications of tweets if you keep twitter in your active frames but as of now hub integration is only for direct messages.  Supposedly that should change with 10.2 but we will see.  I had to subscribe to the DD text alerts for now which is what I would suggest for you.

cool features does not necessarily equal good phone.  The SGS4 happens to be a very good phone but many of the "cool" features dont work well or at all.  My wife has it and she really likes it but not because of the "cool features," many of which she has disabled because they cause more of a nuisance than a benefit.

Personally there is a big difference between the q10/z10 and the SGS4 and it comes down to what you want your phone for.  In terms of communication there is no comparison, the blackberry's are way better.  The hub and notifications are amazing and thats an area where android is sorely lacking.

I have tried everything, but I come back to BB. I am now using a Q10, and feel so much better than on any other platform. It just works! And you can multi task fast....
