Had I known it would take them 90 minutes to make a crappy burger I wouldn't have bothered.
I should add that I specifically didn't order anything that required preparation because of your report.

FYI Ralphs' fried chicken wings are excellent, and the the cafe in La Jolla was pretty good too. It was packed and we still got our food in 20... Coming from LA that's not too bad ;)

I think that's just insane to wait 1.5 hours. Take La Gondola in LA for example - you can get spring rolls, caesar salad and bbq ribs all in 30-45 minutes or less and there is nothing more divine, presentable and delicious.

Their chocolate cake dessert takes 30 minutes to bake and that's why they tell you at the beginning to order it so you don't have to wait.

Some of the chefs out there need a lesson or two when it comes to service and waiting times. Heck with it, for 20% off I'll make my own sandwich rather then wait 1:35. A sandwich shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

My experience at Ralph's wasn't that terrible at all - as it took only about 10 minutes for a burger and sandwich. Definitely will order ahead next week at Summer Grille though!

Perhaps the local on the DD forum can get word back to the manager and chef there to try and quicken things up...:)

So not cool to get my mouth watering like that ;)
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Hi All,

The Summer Grille at Beth Jacob is a temporary dining establishment located at a wonderful shul. So it's not exactly a restaurant, but the people running it are trying to give patrons as much of a restaurant feel as possible. The Grille was created to fill the void when "The Place" closed because of the Shavuos night fire. The owner feels bad that some people have experienced longer than acceptable wait times, so they've hired additional help to manage from now through Labor Day.
The ambiance on the outdoor patio is fantastic and the food is really quite good. People love the bbq brisket sandwich, the fish tacos, and the rib-eye steak. You can check out the menu on their website, then call ahead with your order, letting them know what time you'll be arriving.  This seems to help a lot. Visit www.summergrillbjc.com to see the entire menu then call 888.418.1437, listen to the recorded greeting then you'll be connected.

There's a good outlet mall in San Ysidro, just search "Las Americas Premium Outlets in San Ysidro" I'ts around twenty minutes from the synagogue, and right next to Mexico! You might as well cross the border!  :P ;D
