For Saturday night you might want to head to Gaslamp Quarter. Even though its filled with bars there are Ice Cream stores and its cute area at night. Earlier in the night is better for kids obviously.

For Sunday La Jolla Cove then you can head 10 minutes to Ralphs its a supermarket will full kosher take out food. Then head to Tide Pools. You dont need to go to Coranado just to see the hotel. thats my opinion.
What should I do instead of Coronado

La Jolla was a very nice area so you can hang out there for 2 hours but if you want to rush say 1. Then figure half hour for Ralphs and then half hour drive to Tide Pools and figure 2 hours at tide pool.

So maybe you can do the zoo Sunday after Tide Pools and then head straight to Airport? Or you can do the Seastheday speed boats instead? To be honest we did go to Coronado beach and spent a few hours there but we sat on the beach and went into ocean and relax there. If your going just to see the hotel i would say pass. there are plenty of nicer hotels to look at lol.

Mini TR:

My wife and I were staying at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel and drove down for a day trip in SD.  We stopped at La Jolla Cove and loved the views and the pictures with the sea lions.  We spent a few minutes driving around La Jolla and then headed into midtown.

We took the Gocar tour of the city.  It was the afternoon before Christmas so the roads were empty so driving around in the little gocart was so much fun and the GPS audio tour taught us all about the city.  We paid for the two hour tour -$10 coupon but he told us to just keep it for three hours so we were able to cover all three routes and see so many distinct neighborhoods and all of Balboa Park.

really based on preference if you like going at night and seeing restaurants, nightlife, bars and historic downtown district then you might like gaslamp district  but personally I don't care for that too much.  Zoo more pleasurable and more memorable certainly if you have kids with you I think zoo is better option IME

Spent 3 very action packed days in SD last week with 2 kids in order they enjoyed
1. Legoland by far their favorite, they were in heaven there
2. seaworld was amazing as well
3. Zoo
I found all 3 great as an adult too. I would probably switch 1 and 2 but the zoo was definitely 3rd for me as well even though I did enjoy it. Loved the seaworld shows. San Diego is such a great family vacation spot. 3.5 days was too short.

I’m going without kids. And here’s a question

Seaworld vs other aquariums (ex. Miami or brooklyn or toronto)

San Diego Zoo vs other zoos(Virginia zoo or Bronx or Miami)

sea world has good shows. The zoo is huge, however perhaps there are other San Diego attractions that you would enjoy more if you are traveling without children.

Seaworld isn't comparable to an aquarium. It's more of a theme park - it has great shows, rides, etc.

Why not do it? Park your car and hop in to the gocart. Was so much fun.

Try Top of the Hyatt, and seaport village. TOH is a nice bar with great views (even at night). They have a nice selection of premium beverages including some local drinks.

MACHESTER HYATT GRAND HOTEL
was really something special.

Service was beyond personal and talented!
(except when ordering stuff up to the room from housekeeping or room service!)

I have a Ton of tips if anyone is planning on staying there or going to SD

PM me for now
or wait for my TR

Totally disagree. Was super unimpressed and housekeeping was a disaster. I only had the 2 bedroom signature suite not the presidential but wished I were back at the Fairmont when I was there. I'm a bit of a hotel snob I guess. Did not feel luxurious even in a huge suite, also beds were not comfortable and not the bedding I look forward to at hotels. My other family members were very happy and the size of the suite seriously impressed them.
