I am finalizing my reservations for August. Has anyone been at any of the Hyatt regency in the past few months that can tell me the pros or cons. Leaning towards Hyatt mission bay since it's on the water and close to sea world.
Make sure that they give you a room in the renovated section.

Going to San Diego in two weeks and trying to figure out which Marriott hotel to stay in.

Is it worth it to stay at the Residence Inn in La Jolla just to be near kosher food and minyanim although it isn't that beautiful? Or is it worth it to stay at the  Residence Inn San Diego Bayfront/Downtown where we would be closer to the shore and in a nicer hotel, but further from the shul and food?

From those who have stayed in Downtown San Diego, how bad is the traffic to La Jolla?

Appreciate your help!

I know the food options change from season to season
What are the current kosher options around San Diego?

Ralphs supermarket in La Jolla has excellent take out options and you have meat restaurant in La Jolla JCC.  also there is summer grill in beth jacob congregation in the SDSU area although it may be over by now.

menchies and coffee bean offer non-chalav israel drinks and desserts and lastly
there is apparently a new meat place in UCSD

Is there anyway to get cheaper tickets to the San Diego zoo? Looks like tickets are $56 each.

It's difficult to find discounted tickets to the zoo. However, It's worth the price and is the number 1 zoo in the US. If you are going with 4 paying people (age 3+) or more you may want to consider membership. Keepers' club ($234) includes 2 adult unlimited passes as well as 2 one time use passes. You can then get 2 more passes for 50% off so if you want to go with 6 people you would end up paying $290. Without the membership the trip for 6 people would be $336.

You may also want to consider a San Diego Go Card which will give you access for 3 days to the Zoo, LegoLand, SeaWorld, Safari Park and some other attractions. I find this to be a good value because there is so much you can pack into a trip to San Diego.
