If you don't need anything fancy you can stay at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn. They are very accommodating to frum people and there are always a handful staying there. They offer 2 bedrooms suites and rooms with small kitchens etc. Might be something to look into.

Any idea what shul is nearby ?

Could be beach weather, or could rain the whole time, you never know. Doesn't get below the 50's though.

There are days of rain. Days of sun. Some days the temperature is in the 60s and some days closer to 75/80.
Most days IME were around 65-70. Not hot like summer.

The San Diego safari zipline is awesome! It's one of the longest zips in the United States and you fly over the animals!!

$114 includes park entrance. It is quite pricey but in my opinion it's an unforgettable experience.

Moto - if I was in San Diego for only one day, I would hike Torrey Pines in the morning and take a surf lesson in the afternoon.

Was checking costco.com for gift cards, they have a great value San Diego Go Card. It gives you unlimited entrance to lots of parks (including sea world the san diego zoo and safari and plenty more) for 3 days.
