Just stayed at PH Aviara. Absolutely stunning. Free upgrade to a suite based on Diamond status. Great addition to Hyatt.
Nice!

we are currently in the PH Aviara and i must say that i have never felt more like a VIP in my life.  We booked two rooms with BWB awards.  The staff was absolutely attentive to all our needs.  They provided us with brand new silverware to use in the room.  (they do work with a kosher caterer to provide meals but we were not able to find out the info in time, so they gave us a fridge and microwave to use instead!).  Front desk, in room dining GM's office etc.. all were tuned in to our needs and seemed like we were their number one priority.  Not only did the front desk know that it was my daughters birthday, even the dining manager was aware of it and wished her a happy birthday. (they also put balloons in the room).

I went swimming with my boys in their beautiful pool at around 7PM - while it had been active earlier in the day - it was deserted by then.  We then checked out their indoor spa (separate mens/womens jacuzii, dry sauna and steam room).

missed me by a day. we are currently in LAX waiting to board our redeye back to JFK.  Had a beautiful shabbos in Santa Monica at the Fairmont - right across from the ocean.  Now starts the hard job of unspoiling the kids after two weeks of luxury!

I heard the Ralph's fresh kosher food section closed in La Jolla. You may want to double check before you rely on getting ready made food from there.

Planning to spend a 1-2 days in SD.
Flying into SNA so I'm thinking of spending 2 nights in the PH Aviara in Carlsbad.
What's the kosher food situation in SD?  Have'nt seen too many reviews in this thread.
Any reviews of the diamond kosher breakfast at the PH Aviara?

Any other "must-dos" besides Sea World?

Not necessarily must-dos, but fun things to do:

San Diego Zoo
San Diego Wild Animal Park
Petco Park (SD Padres)
La Jolla Cove (nice walking district)
Legoland
Carlsbad Shopping Outlets

If I think of more I will post again.

i haven't seen much discussion on this site about gocards (would post the link but i am posting from my phone) but they are an excellent value he you plan on doing multiple tourist activities in a city (may be less value if you already have an entertainment book)

The main store/restaurant is "The Place" in the El Cajon area. Not great, but serviceable. Has a storefront as well.

Just to follow up on my post before about go cards see
http://www.smartdestinations.com/san-diego-attractions-and-tours/_d_Sdo-p1.html?pass=Sdo_Prod_Go
If you get a 3 day pass (shorter passes don't include sea world) for $156 and you just do the things on the list above sea world ($70), legoland ($70), San Diego Zoo ($40), Safari ($40), gocars ($88) you have more than gotten your money's worth. And there are a lot more attractions on the list
(I have never done it in San Diego but I did it in Chicago and it was great-you don't have to cheshbon is it worth the $40 to do the Safari because it was all included in one low price)
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.
