Stayed in La Jolla this past Shabbos at the Estancia La Jolla. The hotel was about 1.5 miles from the shul  and was very Shabbos-friendly (and overall, very nice, quiet and calm). The hotel is only 3 floors, so no elevator is needed and all doors around the hotel open manually. The actual room door is electronic, but it was very easy to leave it slightly ajar without tape or anything.

I don't believe there are any point options, and the hotel was a little higher-end, but since we were there on Delta tickets we figured we could splurge a little on the hotel. :)

This one is much better  http://www.costco.com/Go-San-Diego-Card-4-Day-E-Voucher.product.100096582.html
- has all that +++ Oh and you can order it and if you don't use it, you can return in the store (as I did when I found cheaper on crags list).

I'm going to SD for a day. So far the only thing I have planned is seaworld and I'm looking for more to do.
1)What is Coronado? Is there anything to do there besides biking?
2)Are old SD, Seaport Village and the Gaslamp district the same thing?
3)Is Carlsbad Shoping outlets anything special? Is it just a nice area to walk around? Does it have good prices?
4) Is Ralphs my best option to pick up a quick lunch?

TIA

How long is your day? You could spend quite a long time at SeaWorld alone.

I'm going to SD for a day. So far the only thing I have planned is seaworld and I'm looking for more to do. ~Seaworld will take most of your day.

1)What is Coronado? Is there anything to do there besides biking?  It is beautiful to walk around the Hotel Del Coronado

2)Are old SD, Seaport Village and the Gaslamp district the same thing? No

3)Is Carlsbad Shoping outlets anything special? Is it just a nice area to walk around? Does it have good prices? nothing special
not usually good prices (better to shop at department store sales)

4) Is Ralphs my best option to pick up a quick lunch? yes - make sure you call first so you know their hours.

Coronado is about 20 minutes from sea word ( w/o traffic). Its a beautiful neighborhood and the hotel has a bunch of pretty looking cottages over the beach. the lobby has great architecture and is jsut a cool place to hang out. they have a starbucks with an outdoor patio overlooking the beach which is quite empty - at least when i was thereI did coffee there one morning and then walked the beach it was incredible. ( not sure about where bikes can be picked up)

Village seaport is pretty nebby unless you are into old looking historical buildings ( its a tiny are of a few blocks)
Gaslamp Quater on the other hand is so fun!. They have the convention center, gorgeous hotels ( the hyatt lobby is something to see if you are into decorative buildings) they also have a bar that opens at 3:00 thats on the top floor with incredible views. The the marine park is beautiful for a mornign walk. they have the boat dock there as well so you can rent some im sure. I was there by day ( not sure about nightlife)

Cant tell you about food since i basically shopped in von's and made my own lunch :)

Good Luck!

Sounds great. Thanks!

was there a problem with room keys, elevators, etc?
There is a problem with the lights in the room as they all have sensors make sure to bring thick tape to cover them if u are staying over Shabbos..... Was there 2 yrs ago for Shabbos it was very nice.
