Never been in that lounge but for me a 9 hour layover is not on my radar. I just want to get home at that point. Unless you do some sightseeing?

Exactly. Would also want to see my self home.  But being that this is the only reasonable award available, I figured I'll check what people that have been to that lounge think about that.

I've went to sleep in airside hotels when I had stopovers that long. Was worth the cost.
Like said above, sightseeing is good also. Have done that also, although it's better with company.

How do I even have time to sightsee?

9 hours is more than enough time to hit up a few of the basic things to see in London and get back with time to check out the lounge as well.

It might . But I wouldn't be interested.  I would rather stay in the lounge if it makes sense .

I don't know about London, but in Dubai it was over enough time to go to the burj khalif area

Would I be able to book a domestic award business ticket with United, have access to the lounge and then cancel the ticket for a full redeposit without any fees? and would i be able to cancel the ticket even though i already checked in and received a boarding pass?

Update: Showed up outside hours and was warmly welcomed.

I hope this is also the case at DTW. Anyone have experience there one way or another?

Yes you can fill in your status details in the star alliance lounge finder below to see your options the new united club lounge might not be listed yet but if you see the option to enter any other united club lounge then your good.

I don't think you cancel a ticket once you have checked in if the cancelation is not the airlines fault.

I did this with American once.
I booked a flight via Priceline and couldn't cancel unless I cancelled check in.
I called American and they wouldnt do it for me over the phone, so on my way out of the lounge I stopped by an empty American gate and asked the agent to cancel check in.
The agent cancelled it in 30 seconds and I was then able to cancel online with Priceline.

My  prizes from CV :)

I know this is a wild shot but is anyone flying out of mahe airport in the Seychelles and can get my daughter into the lounge prior to her 545 pm  flight today (Wednesday).  It is also a priority pass lounge and free ethiad status lounge.
Other options besides buying a day pass at the airport?
