actually forget  from the continental website  "Only the primary cardmember is eligible to receive the benefits of the credit card. The additional cardmember will not receive a Presidents Club membership and will not receive EliteAccess priority services. "  oh well
"only the primary cardmember will receive a Presidents Club membership. A spouse membership may be added for $150 per year by contacting the Presidents Club Service Center at 800-322-2640." Thats cheaper than $170 (but it doesnt give them eliteaccess...) - no clue how many u can add.... maybe a little bit of a clue (or just call them)

Free Lounge Access

Sign up for the Amex Platinum card for yourself and as many supplementary cardholders (I think 3 is max). Wait until you receive the cards in the mail then call up to cancel. You won't have to pay the annual fee, but you have the card! The cards will work fine in all American, Continental, Delta and Northwest lounges. I've been in many airport lounges throughout North America and never had a problem getting in. They swipe the card, it beeps but even though the account is non-active they welcome you in.

If you're feeling adventurous you can also sign up for the additional Amex Platinum benifits before you cancel (Avis, Hertz, SPG Gold etc).

I've been doing this for 3+ years, it really works.

What's the best way to get into airport lounges?
You can buy entry into American Airlines Admirals Club lounges for $50 for a one day pass.

Not necessarily. Remember, credit card issuers are not legally bound to report everything to the agencies, they volunteer to do so. If you convince them opening the account was made in error (say, you didn't realize it was lacking xyz feature) you can ask them not to report to the credit agencies.....and they won't.

It theory you're correct. In reality the reporting happens automatically, the removal request has to be requested manually and you'll probably have to spend time on the phone trying to get that done for you.

Once every 4 years it's worth it.

Another option is if you already have any Amex (and on this forum, who doesn't!) simply ask to change to the Platinum and change back after you receive the card. This should not effect your credit at all.

« Reply #69 on: August 11, 2008, 05:42:06 PM »
Im going to have 4 hour wait in Ohare. Does anyone know which airlines have the best lounges there? Also if you know one with some sort of private office type space, that would be nice - makes it easier to daven.

I thought you were talking about doing this every year.

Can you change from a credit card to a charge card and vice versa?

How are you getting in?
AMEX Plat doesnt work for RCC.
There is a combined CO PC/NW WC that is pretty decent.

no - it won't let you in - I asked.  Amex doesn't work in most overseas airports.

Did you get into the Dan lounge? I think it's only for PC members or BF customers.
Priority Pass gives access to it as well.
