So then let me make this crystal clear: a PP card that is not valid - whether not linked to an active plat, or whether the PP itself is expired or cancelled - is not worth much as more than bookmark.

Capische? ;)
oh,  I knew that already... Just seemed that he was confused on the matter.

Batchy, I'm not so clear on this.  Would you mind to explain?

once you cancel your Plat card, your priority pass card is canceled too. Use it as a bookmark.
You can only use the plat card at delta/usair/aa before the expiration date on the plate card. After the expiration date on the plat card, use the card as a second bookmark

I just signed up for a new united credit card which includes two lounge passes.
Are each one good for me and a guest (family member) or will I have to use both passes if I want a family member to join me.

Wow, easy there,
First of all its a He,
my Q was if the canceled priority pass has any value, being that a friend claim being able to get in with a cancelled one, and i wasnt quite sure if too believe him or not, but it does make sense to work the same way a cencelled platinum works...or maybe by just flashing the card it was enough to get in with an inexperienced front desk...

I'm flying with my family JFK to MIA with AA and am looking to get into at least one lounge this trip. I have a whole bunch of active cards, and an inactive Platinum card. What would be the best lounges to try and what card(s) would be the best to use?
TIA!

Both airports are AA hubs, and have several AA lounges, with JFK hosting the AA flagship lounge.
They're pretty nice to relax , but they tend to get very crowded at times, and I mean very very crowded!

For the time being, you can use your expired Amex Plat to enter AA Admirals Club with AA boarding passes.

Which lounge I guess would really depend on where you have extra time, or when they're less crowded.
Also, in MIA it may be (depending where your gate is) out of the way for you (as opposed to JFK).

Thank you for the detailed response and here are a few more questions :-)
Are there any non - AA lounges that would be in or close to where I need to be?
Is there any way to check out the lounges online or a number to call them at?
Any spectacular lounges at JFK or MIA that are more than a waiting area, like have an excellent kids play area, or have amazing amenities?

If you have a business class ticket you can use the lounge. Bring a shovel with you. Enjoy

A. IINM those two airports' AA terminals are almost exclusively AA (and a little bit of others, partners like Air Berlin, LAN), and there are only AA Admirals Club [lounges], no others.  As discussed, these are AA hubs.

B. There should be; though I don't have that info, GIYF!
There are definitely many travel sites/blogs which have reviewed these lounges with pics and all, just Google it.
