MO (and also many mainstream orthodox - thus the probable low turnout) has no interest in hearing that.

I disagree with your prediction, this will show how many temimusdike (in a good way) frum jews there are. I believe there are much more than you think. We'll find out soon....

They'll counteract the fact that there won't be thousands of satmerers there, even though they agree with the "anti internet in general" agenda!  :P

Make up your mind (pun), which one is it?

Chabd was only approached because of what had (allegedly) taken place at the Satmar meeting. That, and the fact that (sadly to say) they've sold less seats than expected.
What do u think will come out of this if people did show up?

I mean it's sad in the sense that their followers aren't actually following them, it's like there's a disconnect... That's sad IMHO.

There are Christian groups with a lot more ppl than that that publicly state that. In fact I would guess the people who are ok with everything on the internet is a minority. Maybe they should have an asifa

O course everyone is encouraged to come. Why would anyone think that only "yeshivish" rabbanim and sects are being encouraged. Who actually attends is a completely different story...
Of course e/o is encouraged. But if you want true unity, then you should so your best to invite representatives from all the communities with whom unity is desired.

They probably didn't. The message at the Asifa will include: Don't watch TV shows online, don't visit sites like Facebook/twitter/pinterest/forums/blogs/CNN/Vosisneias/youtube etc etc.

MO (and also many mainstream orthodox - thus the probable low turnout) has no interest in hearing that.

Exactly, most mainstream Orthodox don't want to hear it, but they're still making an attempt to get the message across. So show 'unity' and invite the rabannim of other ppl who also don't want to hear it.

I would imagine that every religious leader, no matter their stripe, understands and recognizes the danger of the internet, and the countless families its destroyed.

we know the mets don't attract and the yankees do, even w/o the official numbers, the ppl that go will report how crowded it was.

the point isn't unity for unity's sake, (although that is also a lofty thing), it's unity against the treifene internet, which is a thousand times worse then the treifene TV. They're not gonna invite Shmully Boteach - that you understand, even though it goes against "unity", to a much lesser extent they're not gonna invite a community that overwhelmingly has TVs in their home and goes unabashedly to movies.

I heard that R' Matisyahu Solmon spoke in BMG this week, he said that you have to be a fool not to go.

IMHO its impossible to say that the internet is safe, and that no one is in danger.

Following your logic, Mitt  Romney should be invited to the Democratic Party's Convention, he agrees with even more then 10% of the agenda. :P

The M.O. Don't recgonize the 'leadership' of R Solomon, and thus have no incentive to waste their time going to an event the organizers themselves can't find an objective for.

(Not referring to anyone personally; heard from someone in re: to a different topic:)
If 24000 talmidim of R Akiva died over 33 days, 700 died every day. Why was there no atzeres chizuk etc? The people who make the gatherings died first.

Nothing new and nothing interesting. He's just regurgitating the typical MO/centrist attack about everything that goes on by chareidim. Secular subjects , more openness etc. . Been there done that.
